PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Josie Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marquez kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is the most annoying Mexican polka music you have heard in your life. Dog comes into a darkened arena with his song building. For U Phoenix Marrizle kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josie Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dog jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Marquez goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Dog shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Marquez gets full guard.
Dog trying to control the position from guard on top but Marquez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Marquez managing to control the position.
Marquez keeping moving, preventing Dog from controlling successfully.

Dog is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Dog slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marquez tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Dog easily slips into full mount!
Marquez tries to lock up and control but Dog gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Dog working Marquez over with strikes here.
Dog pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquez is trying to escape the mount.
Dog lands a big shot there that rocks Marquez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Dog tries to control but Marquez wriggling away.
Marquez sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marquez is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dog tries to pass the half guard into mount. Marquez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Dog wants to lay and pray for a moment but Marquez keeps working.
Dog content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Dog looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Marquez trying to hold on to Dog's head to control him but Dog postures up.
Marquez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Marquez.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dog drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dog jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dog wants to pass the guard but Marquez is keeping the position.
Dog with a flurry of punches that miss.
Dog postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Marquez working for a triangle but Dog defends it easily.
Dog tries to free his leg and advance position but Marquez is retaining full guard.
Dog throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dog seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dog trying to control but Marquez is working from the bottom.
Dog trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Dog avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Marquez working a defensive guard but Dog passes into half guard.

Dog is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Marquez is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Crazy Dog!
