2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Payman Quinlan! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinlan closes the distance and clinches. Quinlan pushes off an throws an elbow but Paderes leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Paderes avoids a wild elbow strike from Quinlan. Paderes blocks an elbow strike from Quinlan.

Quinlan clinches up against the cage. Quinlan lands an elbow just above Paderes 's eye. Quinlan pushes off an throws an elbow but Paderes leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Quinlan throws an elbow that misses.

Quinlan wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Paderes has him pressed against the cage. Paderes works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Quinlan wants to stand up but Paderes is controlling him. Quinlan keeping moving, preventing Paderes from controlling successfully. This has been an exciting period of action! Quinlan wants to stand and escape but Paderes is having none of it.

He's simply no match for Quinlan on the ground. Paderes is pushing down on Quinlan's leg trying to pass to half guard. Payman Quinlan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Paderes clinches up with Quinlan and pushes him back against the cage. Quinlan tries to break the clinch but Paderes is controlling the position. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Quinlan. Quinlan is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Quinlan breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Paderes is looking for a kimura but Quinlan is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Paderes to get the leverage. Quinlan pushes Paderes off but Paderes dives into side control.
Quinlan is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Paderes is controlling him well. Quinlan looks winded! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Paderes is staying tight to Quinlan's torso, preventing him from escaping. Quinlan is pushing Paderes's head away, looking to escape. Paderes manages to hold on to the position though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Mikko Paderes will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Quinlan pushes Paderes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Paderes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paderes advances to full mount. You get the feeling that Quinlan really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Paderes won't let Quinlan get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. Paderes jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Quinlan manages to avoid the submission attempt. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Quinlan pushes Paderes away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Paderes gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Paderes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Paderes trying to control the action but Quinlan is working from the bottom. Quinlan is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
