Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lorenzo Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luc Carole! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Emerson Jorge and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circle momentarily. Carole darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Carole. Silva gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Carole lands a right hook to the body.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by Carole. Silva uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carole. Silva ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. A looping hook to the body misses from Carole. Silva does a little dance to reset his feet. Carole throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Silva. Carole misses with a straight right. Carole lands a nice hook to Silva's body. Silva takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Silva showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Carole.
Carole throws a left and a right that both miss
and Silva makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Carole throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.
Carole throws a jab but it's blocked by Silva. A slow jab from Silva misses its intended target. Carole lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Good leg kick by Carole there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Carole misses with a right hand and Silva counters with a one-two to the body. Carole fails with an attempt to clinch.
Carole slips a jab and a cross from Silva.
Silva ducks under a wild hook from Carole.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carole moves into the clinch. Carole with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Carole looks winded! Silva successfully pulls guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Carole is fighting to break Silva's control of his arms but Silva is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Silva's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Carole throws a sloppy strike and Silva has hooked up an armbar on the loose arm! He's turned and extended fully! Carole is forced to tap! Great BJJ from Silva!
