Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tyson Clay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Patrick Brennan! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Brennan does it's job there. Clay tries to clinch but Brennan moves out of range. A slow jab from Clay misses its intended target. Jab, jab by Brennan - just one landing. Clay shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Brennan defends it nicely. Brennan looks to land a right hand but Clay moved out of range. Clay looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Clay throws a series of punches but Brennan avoids them all with ease. Brennan clobbers Clay with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Brennan looks to land a combination. Clay sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Brennan throws a right hand that Clay ducks under and follows up with a left that Clay also avoids with ease. Sloppy strikes from Brennan. Those never looked like landing. A left lands for Brennan. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jab by Brennan. Brennan has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Clay tries to clinch but Brennan moves out of range. Brennan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Brennan looks to land a combination but Clay avoids it well. Clay tries to clinch up but Brennan circles away and keeps his distance. Clay bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Clay paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Patrick Brennan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brennan thuds his right hand into Clay's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Clay is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Brennan has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Brennan lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Clay is rocked! Brennan lands a really nice looking cross but Clay seems unphased.
Oh Clay is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Clay's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brennan under the eye. Clay seems to have got his legs back now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Brennan feints a jab promting Clay to slip. Brennan then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Clay slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Brennan swinging wildly here.
Brennan lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Brennan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Clay bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Brennan's head backwards. Brennan displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Clay tries to clinch up but Brennan circles away and keeps his distance. Patrick Brennan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Brennan lands a jab to the head.
Brennan works the jab nicely. Brennan swings widly with a right hand
and Clay counters with a crisp one two that drops Brennan! Clay thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Brennan to his feet! Brennan is in big trouble!
Brennan is rocked! Brennan throws a lazy right hand but Clay sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Brennan is still on wobbly legs! Can Clay finish him? Clay closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Clay's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Brennan misses with a looping left. Brennan thuds his right hand into Clay's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Clay closes the distance looking for a takedown. Brennan stuffs it but Clay still has hold of him. Clay picks Brennan up in a fireman's lift! The crowd roars in approval. Clay slams Brennan to the floor and that's really hurt Brennan - he doesn't know where he is! Clay throws a couple of strikes and the referee steps in to save him! This one is in the books!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyson Clay! A very excited looking Tyson Clay made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
