Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Cappy Christian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sean Schamp! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Christian leaves Schamp with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Christian clinches with his opponent.
Christian gets underhooks to prevent Schamp's takedown attempt.
Schamp drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cappy Christian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Schamp. Christian gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Sean Schamp has been cut. Schamp is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Christian is defending well. Christian ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Christian no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Christian looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Christian is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Schamp trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Christian on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Christian tries to get out of the position. Christian working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Schamp.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schamp with a flurry of punches that miss. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Christian is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Christian tries to stand but can't do so whilst Schamp controls his leg. Christian thows a huge punch but Schamp dodges it nicely.
Christian not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Christian missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Schamp regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Christian. Christian tries to free his leg and advance position but Schamp is retaining full guard. Christian chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Christian tries to free his leg and advance position but Schamp is retaining full guard. Christian is looking to pass into half guard but Schamp pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Schamp is in guard. Christian not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Christian wants to get back to his feet but Schamp is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Christian wants to sweep but no luck. Christian is working hard here to advance position. Christian will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Christian has his foot on Schamp's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Schamp works his way back into a safe position though. Schamp scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Schamp preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schamp wants to control from the top but Christian keeps moving. Schamp tries to free his leg and advance position but Christian is retaining full guard. Christian controlling Schamp's posture. Christian throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Christian is adopting a defensive guard. Schamp throws a strike but Christian rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Christian landing some decent shots from guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Christian with a flurry of punches that miss. Christian trying to stand up but can't free himself from Schamp's guard. Christian is looking to pass into half guard but Schamp pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Schamp is in guard. Schamp prevents Christian from getting back to his feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schamp looking to sit in guard and control but Christian gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Christian trying to control the position from guard on top but Schamp is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Cappy Christian dominated that round. The cut man is working on Sean Schamp's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Christian gets a clinch. A knee to the head by Christian.
Schamp wants a takedown but no success here.
Christian gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Schamp is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Christian gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Christian blocks an uppercut.
Christian lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Christian lands an elbow inside that Schamp shrugs off. Schamp tries to score a body lock takedown but Christian shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Cappy Christian has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Schamp. Schamp looking for a takedown. Christian lands a nice elbow from the clinch. Christian lands an elbow that stopped Schamp in his tracks for a moment. Nice elbow from Christian.
That has opened up Sean Schamp's cut even more. Christian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Schamp is breathing heavily. Christian displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Schamp. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Christian drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Christian lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Christian tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Christian has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Schamp is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Christian is working Schamp over with some ground and pound from side control.
The cut above Sean Schamp's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Christian looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Christian lands a nice forearm strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Christian scores with a couple of short elbows.
Schamp is rocked!
Sean Schamp's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Sean Schamp's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Cappy Christian! Cappy Christian was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
