Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Arkley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Alexander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alexander is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Cult of Personality - Living Colour. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Arkley! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jacob Alexander! The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jorge Garcia and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Arkley connects with a body shot that sends Alexander's belly button to the back. Arkley is looking to slow Alexander down with leg kicks. Arkley tries to clinch up. Alexander throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Alexander closes the distance and clinches up with Arkley, looking for a takedown. Alexander pushes Arkley against the cage but Arkley circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Alexander fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Arkley manages to avoid it. Alexander scores with a jab to the jaw. Alexander misses with a series of wild punches.
Arkley defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alexander. Alexander looking to score a takedown here. Arkley is defending well but Alexander drives through and ends up in Arkley's guard. Alexander throwing strikes from guard but Arkley blocks nicely. Arkley tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Arkley avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Alexander wants to pass the guard but Arkley is keeping the position. Arkley wants to sweep here but Alexander controlling him for the moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arkley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Alexander throwing strikes but missing. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Alexander accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Arkley is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Arkley holds on and takes a little breather. Arkley preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Arkley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Alexander throws a strike but Arkley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Arkley prevents Alexander from getting back to his feet. Alexander wants to sweep but no luck. Alexander is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Arkley is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Arkley stops Alexander from standing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arkley stands and steps away. Alexander gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Jacob Alexander seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Arkley lands a jab. Alexander fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Alexander's corner calls for a 1-2. Alexander obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. No luck for Alexander with that takedown attempt. James Arkley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Alexander. Alexander swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Alexander changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Arkley tries to avoid it but Alexander manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Arkley to the ground. Arkley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Arkley lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Alexander takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Arkley misses with a body kick. Arkley listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Alexander crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Arkley - the referee stops the clock and Alexander gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Arkley. Alexander manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Alexander looks winded! A left lands for Arkley. Alexander shoots in for a takedown but Arkley shows good takedown defense.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Arkley lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Alexander takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fighters circle momentarily. Arkley darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Arkley scores with a nice strike.
Alexander is rocked! A swing and a miss from Alexander. Alexander is still on wobbly legs! Can Arkley finish him? Alexander misses with a looping left. Arkley fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Alexander to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Alexander looks to clinch but Arkley throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Alexander taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). James Arkley! James Arkley is the new light heavyweight champion! James Arkley decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
