Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Boris Konstantinov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tommy Farr! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Farr misses with a left hand and Konstantinov counters with a nice double leg into side control. Farr won't be happy with that. Farr parries the strikes from Konstantinov easily there. Konstantinov is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Farr to escape.
Farr wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Konstantinov lands a decent elbow from side control. Konstantinov misses with the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The ground and pound from Konstantinov seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Farr is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Konstantinov asserts his dominance and retains side control. Konstantinov has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Konstantinov postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Farr is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Konstantinov is controlling him well.

If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Konstantinov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Konstantinov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Farr. Farr instigates a clinch. Konstantinov wants to take the fight to the mat but Farr manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Konstantinov wants to get back to striking at distance but Farr won't allow it.

A frustrated look appears on Konstantinov's face as he tries to break the clinch. Konstantinov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Farr throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Farr throws a hook to the side of Konstantinov's head but Konstantinov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Farr misses with a straight right. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Farr gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Farr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Konstantinov's efforts to push away. Konstantinov tries to break the clinch but Farr is controlling the position. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Konstantinov breaks the clinch.
Horrible takedown by Konstantinov or perhaps it was just good defense by Farr which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boris Konstantinov. That's going to take a lot out of him. Farr connects with a body shot that sends Konstantinov's belly button to the back. Farr might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Konstantinov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Farr.

Konstantinov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Konstantinov keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Farr. Farr swings widly with a right hand
and Konstantinov counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Farr is lucky that one didn't land flush. Tommy Farr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Farr connects with a good right hand that stumbles Konstantinov. Konstantinov circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Farr lands a nice looking body shot.
