dial tries to land knees in the clinch but Abernethy avoids the damage to the body.
dial jumps guard and drags Abernethy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Abernethy trying to stand up but can't free himself from dial's guard. Abernethy has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Abernethy stands up from guard. Let's bang! Abernethy throws a hook to the side of dial's head but dial sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Abernethy misses with an uppercut. dial saw that one coming. dial throws a right and a left that Abernethy avoids nicely. Bobby Abernethy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Abernethy missing with a left hand there. dial was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Nice defenses there by dial. Abernethy throws a big shot that misses. Abernethy throws a jab but it's blocked by dial. dial walks into a straight right hand from Abernethy. Bobby Abernethy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. dial tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. dial shoots in and bounces Abernethy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. dial passes easily into side control. Nice work. Abernethy is breathing heavily. dial wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abernethy keeps working.
dial decides to stand up, so the ref orders Abernethy to his feet. dial displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Abernethy throws out the jab.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. dial bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
dial bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Abernethy is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, dial asserts his dominance and retains side control.
dial stands up and we're back to a striking position. dial ducks under a wild hook from Abernethy. Abernethy is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Abernethy's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Abernethy throws a lazy right hand but dial sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. dial slips under a jab from Abernethy. Abernethy has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
dial rushes Abernethy and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Abernethy wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
dial has clasped his hands together around Abernethy's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Abernethy wants to get back to his feet but dial drags him back down. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. dial works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Abernethy sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Abernethy scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but dial manages to mount him!

Abernethy tries to get back to half guard but can't. Abernethy tries to buck dial off but he can't manage it. Abernethy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for dial on the ground. Abernethy trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. dial trying to control but he's not successful this time.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Abernethy can't escape the position.
dial wants to control the pace but Abernethy is squirming around nicely. Abernethy is trying to stand up.
dial looking to secure an arm triangle but Abernethy defends it well. dial looking to finish with strikes here!
dial tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. dial has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Abernethy's face.

Abernethy is rocked! Abernethy takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! dial's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
