Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Richards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Jansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Richards kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Kittie - Johnny. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pierre Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steven Jansen! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Jansen. Jansen throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Jansen looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Jansen landing strikes. Richards is letting Jansen control him for a moment. Jansen wants to control but Richards is keeping him busy. Richards takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Jansen in side control, throwing shots but Richards defends.
That's one minute gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Jansen is looking to take a break and control but Richards is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Jansen wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Richards, who protects the arm well. Richards can't do much from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jansen tries to advance to mount but can't. You can see the frustration on Richards's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jansen moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Richards scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Jansen wants to control but Richards is keeping busy and won't allow it. Richards gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Richards shoots in and bounces Jansen off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jansen looks gassed! Richards wants to control from the top but Jansen keeps moving. Richards wanted to stand there but Jansen had control of the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jansen is looking for a triangle but Richards pushes his legs off easily.
Richards tries to free his leg and advance position but Jansen is retaining full guard. Richards wants to control from the top but Jansen keeps moving. Richards has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jansen looking to control.
Jansen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jansen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Richards squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Jansen controlling the pace for now. Jansen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Richards can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Richards is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Steven Jansen will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Richards scores a takedown into full mount! Jansen regains half guard. Richards is thwarting Jansen's attempts to control the position. Jansen is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Richards is staying active. Jansen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jansen. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jansen wants to sweep here but Richards controlling him for the moment. Jansen uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Richards with a poor takedown and Jansen counters with a nice double leg into guard. Jansen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Richards is keeping the position for now. Richards has control of Jansen's left arm, preventing Jansen from doing any damage. Richards kicks Jansen off and gets to his feet. Richards misses with a takedown and Jansen counters with a good low kick that Richards was not able to check.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jansen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Jansen stalling. Steven Jansen has got the better of the ground game so far. Jansen wants to take a breather but Richards is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Richards is looking for a sweep. Jansen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Richards is trying to maintain the position but Jansen is very close to passing his half guard. Richards is trying to stand up here but Jansen is controlling him well. Jansen trying to control the action but Richards is working from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jansen misses with a takedown attempt and Richards counters with a head kick. Jansen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Richards as he avoids it easily. Jansen gets the takedown into side control. Richards controls the position for a moment. Jansen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Richards knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richards tries to bench press Jansen off him but Jansen keeps the position. Jansen taking a breather here. The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jansen. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man. Richards is not content to let Jansen control the position. Richards manages to get back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Steven Jansen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Jansen wants to clinch and Richards counters with a two punch combo. Jansen misses with a takedown so Richards counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Jansen wants to sweep here but Richards controlling him for the moment. Jansen working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Richards has passed into half guard!
Richards prevents Jansen from improving his position. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jansen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jansen is trying to maintain the position but Richards is very close to passing his half guard. Richards seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Jansen has his takedown stuffed and Richards counters with a nice double leg into guard. Jansen is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Jansen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jansen wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Richards is now in half guard. Jansen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Jansen gets back to full guard.
Jansen pulls Richards in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jansen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Richards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jansen controls Richards momentarily but Richards frees himself. Jansen manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Jansen wants to control the pace but Richards is squirming around nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Jansen scoring with strikes but Richards is staying in there. Richards keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Jansen punishing his opponent with strikes. Jansen controlling his opponent. Pierre Richards has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Steven Jansen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Richards tries to reverse the position but Jansen maintains control.
And that's the end of the fight! Pierre Richards showed his dominance in that final round. I think Jansen has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
