Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell Hobson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simeon Grundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grundy has chosen Enter Sandman as his entrance music. Simeon Grundy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitchell Hobson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simeon Grundy! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grundy stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hobson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Grundy to score an easy takedown into full guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Grundy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hobson is on top in guard.

Hobson is in close to Grundy's body, working some short punches and elbows. Hobson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Grundy avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hobson lands a couple of elbows. Hobson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Grundy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hobson is looking to work some ground and pound but Grundy has wrist control. Grundy is looking for a triangle here but Hobson uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Grundy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hobson is defending against the submission attempts here by Grundy.
Hobson actively working from the bottom here. Hobson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grundy is keen to just control but Hobson is a slippery customer. Grundy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Hobson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Grundy is working away from the top position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grundy prevents Hobson from standing back up.
Grundy misses with a head shot. Hobson uses the momentum to regain guard. Grundy wants to control from the top but Hobson keeps moving. Grundy with a flurry of punches that miss. Grundy looking to sit in guard and control but Hobson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Grundy looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Hobson has picked Grundy up and slammed him! Grundy can't keep hold of the triangle and Hobson manages to pass to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Simeon Grundy dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Hobson misses with a looping right. Grundy throws a sloppy head kick and Hobson counters with a head kick. Grundy shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hobson as he avoids it easily. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hobson crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Grundy - the referee stops the clock and Hobson gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Grundy. Hobson manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Simeon Grundy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hobson stuffs the takedown. Hobson looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hobson wants to take a breather but Grundy is having none of it. Grundy is trying to control but Hobson manages to pass to mount!
Hobson with shots to the head and body - Grundy looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hobson swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Grundy is now in Hobson's guard. A big mistake from Hobson there, giving up the dominant position! Grundy trying to control the position from guard on top but Hobson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Grundy with a flurry of punches that miss. Grundy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Grundy drops back, looking for a kneebar! Hobson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Hobson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Hobson! Hobson wants to stand but Grundy has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard. Grundy keeping moving, preventing Hobson from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hobson pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Grundy is keeping the position for now. Grundy is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hobson defends well. Mitchell Hobson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Hobson trying to control but Grundy is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Still in half guard, Hobson seems content to control. Grundy tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hobson is working for a kimura but Grundy is defending it quite comfortably.

Grundy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Grundy showed some decent athleticism there. Grundy is thwarting Hobson's attempts to control the position. Hobson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Grundy uses his free foot to push down on Hobson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Hobson. Grundy moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hobson has worked his arm free - good work by Hobson!
Hobson tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Grundy's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Grundy not allowing Hobson to control his hands. Grundy throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch. Hobson just trying to survive but Grundy is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Hobson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Grundy working for a choke but Hobson is defending well. Hobson tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Hobson tries to lock up and control but Grundy gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Grundy goes for an armbar but Hobson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Hobson.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hobson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Grundy's guard. Hobson throwing strikes but missing. Hobson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Grundy keeping moving, preventing Hobson from controlling successfully. Hobson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Hobson postures up in Grundy's guard and throws a big left but Grundy blocks it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grundy is trying to control the position but Hobson postures up. Hobson trying to control but Grundy is working from the bottom.
Mitchell Hobson has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Grundy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hobson. Grundy misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hobson gets the takedown into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Grundy tries to bench press Hobson off him but Hobson keeps the position. Hobson scoring with punches from side control. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Grundy dodges the ground and pound from Hobson.
And that's the end of the fight! Mitchell Hobson showed his dominance in that final round. I think Hobson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
