7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Kuruts! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aerts is looking to clinch but Kuruts is avoiding it.
Kuruts with a poor takedown and Aerts counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Kuruts is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Aerts pulls him back up using the underhooks. Kuruts tries to pull guard but Aerts holds him up against the cage and eventually Kuruts drops back down to his feet.
Badr Aerts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex Kuruts. Aerts controlling the action here for a moment.

Aerts lands an elbow inside that Kuruts shrugs off. Aerts will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kuruts up against the cage. Aerts lands an elbow that stopped Kuruts in his tracks for a moment. Aerts unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kuruts lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Aerts is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Aerts stalling the fight.
Aerts creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Kuruts's defenses. Aerts scores a nice knee to the body.

Aerts goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Kuruts walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Aerts tries to clinch but Kuruts moves out of range. Aerts has Kuruts up against the cage in a clinch.
Aerts unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kuruts lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Badr Aerts dominated that round. The cut man is working on Alex Kuruts's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Kuruts is looking to clinch. Aerts moves into the clinch. Aerts dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Kuruts jumps into guard, dragging Aerts to the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Kuruts has his foot on Aerts's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Aerts works his way back into a safe position though. Aerts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kuruts on the ground. Aerts trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Aerts tries to stand but Kuruts is controlling from the bottom. Kuruts had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Aerts defends it easily. Aerts engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Aerts wanted to stand there but Kuruts had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aerts is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Aerts is looking to stand up but Kuruts won't let him. Kuruts is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Aerts has his hands clasped together but Kuruts extends an breaks Aerts's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Kuruts.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Alex Kuruts! An out of breath Alex Kuruts thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
