PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Uzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ruben Owth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Uzi comes to the cage accompanied by Slayer - Angel of Death . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kurt Uzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Ruben Owth!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Uzi keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Owth.
Owth misses with a wild body shot.
Owth throws a body punch but Uzi moves out of range.
Owth connects with a body shot that sends Uzi's belly button to the back.
A low kick from Owth is predictable there

and Uzi counters with a nice double leg into side control. Owth won't be happy with that.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Uzi controlling the position from side mount.
Uzi lands some shots froms side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Uzi is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Owth is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

You can see the frustration on Owth's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Uzi is trying to control. Owth wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Owth attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Owth lands with an uppercut that bounces Uzi off the cage and back into range.
Owth takes a swing at Uzi's ribcage but misses.

Uzi gets a takedown into half guard.
Uzi is pressing down on Owth's thigh, looking to free his foot. Owth is holding on for now.
Uzi wants to take a breather but Owth is having none of it.
Owth is trying to maintain the position but Uzi is very close to passing his half guard.

Uzi is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Owth has managed to free his arm - good work.

Owth works his way to full guard. Good work.
Uzi content to stall in guard here.
Owth is trying to keep Uzi in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Uzi throws a strike but Owth rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Uzi is on top in guard.

Owth keeping moving, preventing Uzi from controlling successfully.
Uzi loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Owth wants to sweep but no luck.

Uzi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Uzi looking to pass the guard.
Owth controls Uzi momentarily but Uzi frees himself.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Uzi throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kurt Uzi will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Uzi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Owth looking to sit in guard and control but Uzi gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Owth is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Uzi is trying to get back to full guard.
Owth is trying to control. Uzi wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Owth postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Owth throws a big elbow that misses.
Owth pushes down on Uzi's leg and manages to get into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Owth fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Uzi looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Uzi walks into a straight right hand from Owth.
Owth is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Uzi rather than just go for the knockout.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Owth keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kurt Uzi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Uzi on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Owth connects with a leg kick. Uzi looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ruben Owth comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Uzi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
