PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damien Cross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Walsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cross comes into the arena with 2nd Sucks blaring out of the sound system. Walsh has chosen Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal as his entrance music. Ryan Walsh is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damien Cross!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Walsh!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Walsh gets a takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Walsh slows the pace down in half guard.
Cross wants to get back to his feet.
Walsh takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ryan Walsh.

Cross has closed the distance and engaged Walsh in a clinch.

Cross is pressed up against the cage. Walsh has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cross down to the mat. Cross avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Walsh tries to score a body lock takedown but Cross shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Walsh is trying to drag Cross to the mat but Cross just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Damien Cross has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Walsh.
Cross unloads a knee to the mid-section. Walsh lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Walsh connects with a nice short shot to Cross's temple.

Walsh wants to pass to mount but Cross is defending the position.
Well, if Walsh is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Walsh wants to pass the guard but Cross is defending well.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Ryan Walsh.

Cross moves into range and clinches up with Walsh.

Walsh ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Walsh no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cross pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Walsh is keeping the position for now.
Walsh throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Walsh throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cross because Walsh loaded up on that one.

Walsh gets tackled into the cage by Cross. Cross maintains the clinch.
Cross tries to land knees in the clinch but Walsh avoids the damage to the body.

Walsh drops down looking for an ankle pick but Cross pulls his leg out and moves away.
Damien Cross is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Cross has managed to clinch.
Walsh wants a takedown but no success here.

It looks like Ryan Walsh has been cut.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
