PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jason Kesler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Camacho Lanoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kesler comes to the cage accompanied by Warrior-Swollen Members. Jason Kesler has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Kesler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Camacho Lanoya!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Trevor Gratis and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kesler throws a sloppy body shot
and Lanoya counters with a left and a right that stings Kesler.
Kesler has his takedown stuffed
and Lanoya counters with a right hand to the body.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Lanoya!
Lanoya throws a combination that misses
and Kesler counters with a nice kick to the body.

Lanoya gets a clinch.
Kesler wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Lanoya has him pressed against the cage.

Lanoya has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Kesler is trying to keep an underhook but Lanoya manages to get the takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Lanoya seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kesler does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Lanoya is stalling here. Kesler is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Lanoya seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kesler has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Lanoya tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kesler wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lanoya can't do much from the bottom here.

The referee asks Kesler politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kesler prefers to stall for the moment though.
Kesler misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Lanoya is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kesler connects with a decent elbow.
Kesler trying to control the action but Lanoya is working from the bottom.
Lanoya is looking for a sweep.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Kesler scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kesler controls the position.
Kesler in side control, throwing shots but Lanoya defends.
Lanoya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kesler. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kesler trying to control the action but Lanoya is working from the bottom.

Kesler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lanoya can do anything to dispel that myth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kesler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lanoya keeps working.

Lanoya is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Kesler looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Kesler decides to stand back up. Kesler steps back and let's Lanoya get back to his feet.

Lanoya has taken the fight to the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Lanoya's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Kesler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Lanoya has Kesler up against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Camacho Lanoya will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Kesler misses with a takedown
and Lanoya counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Lanoya clinches with his opponent.
Kesler has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lanoya avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Kesler wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Kesler is working for takedown but Lanoya is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Kesler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kesler is trying to pull guard but Lanoya turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Lanoya creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Lanoya escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Lanoya fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kesler shoots and misses
and Lanoya counters with a stiff right hand.

Lanoya rushes Kesler and presses him up against the cage.
Lanoya prevents Kesler from breaking the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kesler breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lanoya throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Lanoya fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kesler avoids the head kick by Lanoya.
Kesler shoots in for a double leg but Lanoya sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kesler has Lanoya up against the cage in a clinch.

Lanoya gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Kesler pushes Lanoya off looking to stand but Lanoya dives back in and keeps control.
Lanoya tries to stand and escape but Kesler is controlling the position.
Lanoya performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Lanoya is trying to control. Kesler wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Kesler throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Kesler flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Jason Kesler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kesler wants to control but Lanoya is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kesler keeping hold of Lanoya's head, controlling as best he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Kesler falls off balance throwing a combination
and Lanoya counters with a one-two to the body.

Lanoya drives through with a takedown into Kesler's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Lanoya is looking to stand up but Kesler won't let him.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kesler is pulling down on Lanoya's head to control his posture.
Kesler keeping moving, preventing Lanoya from controlling successfully.

Kesler has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lanoya should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kesler has tightened it up now! Lanoya should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jason Kesler!
A very excited looking Jason Kesler rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
