Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Johann Schwartz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor Reese! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reese scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Reese prevents Schwartz from improving his position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Reese is keen to just control but Schwartz is a slippery customer. Reese stops Schwartz from getting back to his feet.
Schwartz works his way to full guard. Good work. Reese would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Schwartz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Schwartz trying to control the position.
Reese wants to control from the top but Schwartz keeps moving. Reese has gone for a leg lock! Schwartz slips out almost immediately though and dives into Reese's guard. Schwartz wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving. Schwartz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reese controls Schwartz momentarily but Schwartz frees himself. Schwartz wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving. Schwartz tries to stand but Reese is controlling from the bottom. Reese looking for a sweep. Not yet Reese, not yet. Reese looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Schwartz passes into half guard.
Schwartz seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Reese uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Schwartz.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Reese moves into range and clinches up with Schwartz. Reese drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Schwartz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Reese can't fight it off and eventually Schwartz manages to take the fight to the floor. Reese looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Reese looking for a sweep. Not yet Reese, not yet. Reese keeping full guard, as Schwartz tries to pass. Schwartz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Reese working a defensive guard here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwartz looking to pass the guard. Reese tries to land a sweep but no joy. Reese had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Schwartz is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Reese Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Schwartz's back instead. Reese looking for the choke from the back. Reese looks gassed! Schwartz trying to control the action but Reese just sinks the hooks in. Reese doesn't have the hooks in and Schwartz manages to turn into his guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Schwartz gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. No joy there for Reese, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Reese drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schwartz is looking to reverse the position. Reese trying to control the position but Schwartz is working away. You can see the frustration on Schwartz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Schwartz regains half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Johann Schwartz will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Reese fails with an attempt to clinch.
Reese uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Schwartz.

Schwartz just misses with a punch to the body.
Schwartz rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Reese moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Schwartz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reese moves away. Reese is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Reese lands with a shot to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice defenses there by Reese. The fight stays on the outside here - Reese looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Reese tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schwartz moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Reese moves into the clinch successfully.

Reese tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Reese jumps into guard, dragging Schwartz to the mat.
Reese is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Reese wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Schwartz is now in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwartz is tying to control. Reese wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Reese throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Reese is staying active underneath Schwartz, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Schwartz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Reese! Reese tries to hold on but Schwartz postures up. Schwartz stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. Reese tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Schwartz swivels and escapes. Reese keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A punch combination from Schwartz misses. Trevor Reese seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Reese misses with a takedown attempt - Schwartz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Johann Schwartz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Trevor Reese.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwartz cracks Reese with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Schwartz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Reese is breathing heavily. Schwartz misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Reese moves into the clinch. It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Schwartz here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man. Schwartz jumps guard but Reese stands there with Schwartz around his waist. Schwartz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Schwartz looking for a takedown. Schwartz is fighting off a takedown attempt but Reese is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Schwartz to the mat. Schwartz regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Schwartz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Schwartz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Schwartz looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Schwartz wants to control from the top but Reese keeps moving. Reese manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Schwartz is desperately trying to improve his position but Reese has a good base and remains in mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Trevor Reese will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Reese counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Reese gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Schwartz is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Reese pulls him back up using the underhooks. Reese has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Reese decides to stand up. Reese takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Reese fails with a takedown attempt. Schwartz scores with a jab to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Schwartz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reese manages to avoid it. Johann Schwartz is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Reese closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reese lands in his opponent's guard. Schwartz avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Reese has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Schwartz is proving hard to escape from. Reese stops Schwartz from standing up. Schwartz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reese gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Reese looking to pass the guard. Schwartz tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Reese trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Reese trying to control but Schwartz is working from the bottom. Reese in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Schwartz keeping moving, preventing Reese from controlling successfully. Schwartz controls Reese momentarily but Reese frees himself.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Reese clinches up with Schwartz and pushes him back against the cage. Schwartz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Reese smiles and moves away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Schwartz closes the distance and lands a one-two. Schwartz misses with a shot to the body and Reese counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Reese prevents Schwartz from improving his position. Reese is thwarting Schwartz's attempts to control the position. Schwartz is looking for a sweep. Reese is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Reese seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Schwartz does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Schwartz looking for submissions off his back. Schwartz moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Trevor Reese comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Reese has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
