Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alarico Calabrese (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merce Poindexter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alarico Calabrese! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Merce Poindexter! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Calabrese shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Poindexter pinned against the cage. Poindexter gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Poindexter leaves Calabrese with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Poindexter fails with the takedown. Poindexter takes the fight into the clinch. Calabrese takes a shot to the head.
It looks like Alarico Calabrese has been cut. Calabrese using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Poindexter has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Poindexter wants to take the fight to the mat but Calabrese manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Calabrese tries to pull guard but Poindexter won't allow it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alarico Calabrese. That's going to take a lot out of him. Calabrese is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Poindexter to keep the fight standing. Poindexter is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Poindexter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Calabrese tries to pull guard but Poindexter won't allow it.
Calabrese is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Poindexter is defending well. Calabrese blocks a body shot from Poindexter. Poindexter has clasped his hands together around Calabrese's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Poindexter has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Calabrese is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Poindexter yanks on the arm and Calabrese is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Poindexter.
