Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tournament Champion! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leo Winfred! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Champion fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Winfred avoids it really well and circles away. Tournament Champion seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Champion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Winfred's guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Winfred wants to stand up but Champion is controlling him. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Winfred keeping moving, preventing Champion from controlling successfully. Champion stands up over Winfred, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Champion throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Winfred works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Champion postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Winfred keeping moving, preventing Champion from controlling successfully. Winfred looking to control.
Champion trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Champion sitting in guard, not really doing much. Champion throwing strikes but missing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Champion missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Champion postures up.
Champion passes easily into side control. Nice work. Champion lands a decent elbow from side control. Winfred tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Champion wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Champion scores with a couple of short elbows. Champion looks up at the clock and then as Winfred takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Champion smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Champion cracks Winfred with an elbow. That is naaassty. Champion wants to lay and pray for a moment but Winfred keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Check out the look on Champion's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Champion controlling the position. Champion wants to control but Winfred is keeping him busy. Champion lands some shots froms side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Winfred can do anything to dispel that myth. You can see the frustration on Winfred's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Champion has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Winfred looks winded! Winfred takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Champion cracks Winfred with a big right hand but Winfred just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Winfred looks to move to half guard but instead Champion has passed into mount! Damn! Champion working away from the top, dropping strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee warns Winfred that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Winfred is rocked! A big strike lands for Champion! That's really hurt Winfred and he's turned his back - Champion keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Champion jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tournament Champion!
