Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Lamas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Moss! The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lamas instigates a clinch. Lamas looking to slow down the pace here. Moss tries to throw a body punch but Lamas avoids it by throwing Moss back against the cage. Lamas trying to land knees to the body.
Lamas lands an elbow just above Moss 's eye.
It looks like Bill Moss has been cut. Lamas gets a trip takedown into half guard. Moss is trying to stand.
Moss is defending against the submission attempts here by Lamas.
Lamas throwing shots but Moss is blocking nicely. Lamas is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Moss tries to roll over but Lamas keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Moss manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Moss looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Lamas loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Moss is trying to control the position but Lamas postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lamas is pushing down on Moss's leg trying to pass to half guard. Moss is fighting to maintain full guard but Lamas has managed to sneak the leg through. Lamas is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Lamas seems to be looking for submissions.
Moss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Lamas wants to stand up but Moss has a hold of him and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Lamas throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lamas tries to pass to full mount but Moss defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Moss has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lamas is working away from the top position though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lamas prevents Moss from standing back up.
Lamas wants to control but Moss is keeping him busy. Moss is doing well to control the position and prevent Lamas from advancing to side control. Lamas misses with a head shot. Moss uses the momentum to regain guard. Moss looking to control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Moss can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Lamas instigates a clinch. Lamas goes for a takedown attempt but Moss pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Moss moves in looking to clinch but Lamas pushes him off. The fight moves into the clinch position. Moss looking for a takedown. Lamas is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Moss gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lamas.
Lamas utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body. Moss looks winded! This has been an exciting period of action! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lamas ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lamas no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Lamas is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Moss rolls with it to try and escape but Lamas cranks on the arm and Moss is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
