PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dante Alighieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Chan might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Drunken Master II. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alighieri instigates a clinch.
Alighieri is trying to push Chan away but Chan has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Alighieri has Chan pressed against the cage, preventing Chan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Alighieri has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Chan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Alighieri is trying to break the clinch but Chan has him pressed against the cage.
Alighieri tries to circle away but Chan has him pinned against the cage.
Alighieri looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Chan breaks the clinch.
Alighieri fails with the takedown.
No luck for Chan with that takedown attempt.
Alighieri takes one to the chin there.
Alighieri misses with a combination

and Chan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Chan.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Chan wants to control from the top but Alighieri keeps moving.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alighieri can do anything to dispel that myth.

Alighieri trying to strike off his back.
Chan advances to half guard.
Ground and pound from Chan.
Chan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alighieri keeps working.
Alighieri looks like he's trying to stand up.

Chan is trying to work for a kimura but Alighieri is defending well.
Alighieri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Chan slips a nice elbow through Alighieri's hands, connecting with Alighieri's forehead.
Alighieri has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chan is working away from the top position though.

Alighieri is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Chan pulls his head out easily.
Chan winds up and cracks Alighieri with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alighieri wants to control but Chan is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Alighieri wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alighieri is trying to control Chan's posture. Chan takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for Alighieri! Chan is rotating here... this could be the end... Alighieri is out! Chan has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!

Jackie Chan decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
