PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alecxsander Pitpitunge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phil Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pitpitunge comes to the cage accompanied by Never Say Die. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alecxsander Pitpitunge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Harris!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Harris shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pitpitunge napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Harris misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Pitpitunge managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Harris.
Pitpitunge is holding Harris down, trying to stall.
Pitpitunge tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Harris wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Harris trying to control the action but Pitpitunge is working from the bottom.
Harris fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Pitpitunge tries to buck Harris off but Harris is having none of it.

Harris goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Pitpitunge rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Harris's guard! Nice work there by Pitpitunge!
Harris tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pitpitunge really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Harris has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Harris is looking for a triangle but Pitpitunge pushes his legs off easily.
Harris utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Harris throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Harris has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harris is on top in guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Pitpitunge is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pitpitunge tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pitpitunge is working hard here to advance position.

Harris drops back looking for a leg! Pitpitunge is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pitpitunge manages to kick Harris off! Harris jumps back into Pitpitunge's guard.

Harris forces his way into half guard.
Harris stops Pitpitunge from getting back to his feet.
Harris wants to pass to mount but Pitpitunge is defending the position.

Harris is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Pitpitunge defends it well.

Harris tries to pass to full mount but Pitpitunge defends it.

Pitpitunge pushes Harris off looking to stand but Harris dives back in and keeps control.
Pitpitunge works his way to full guard. Good work.
Harris postures up.
Harris throwing strikes but missing.
Pitpitunge keeping full guard, as Harris tries to pass.
Harris wants to control from the top but Pitpitunge keeps moving.
Harris is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Harris engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Harris's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Phil Harris wasn't active enough on the ground.

Harris closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pitpitunge is trying to maintain the position but Harris is very close to passing his half guard.
Harris throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Harris is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pitpitunge sees it coming and defends easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harris is keen to just control but Pitpitunge is a slippery customer.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pitpitunge won't allow Harris to pass to mount.

Harris is working for a submission of some sort.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harris fails with a takedown attempt.
Harris shoots in and drives through. Pitpitunge sprawls well.
Pitpitunge closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Harris closes the distance and clinches up with Pitpitunge, looking for a takedown. Harris pushes Pitpitunge against the cage but Pitpitunge circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alecxsander Pitpitunge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Phil Harris.
Harris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Harris wants to clinch up but Pitpitunge keeps it at a distance.
Pitpitunge shoots in looking for a takedown but Harris manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pitpitunge's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Harris is breathing heavily.
Harris drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pitpitunge misses with an elbow over the top.
Harris wants to take the fight to the mat but Pitpitunge manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Pitpitunge's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Harris gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Pitpitunge breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Harris shoots in and drives through. Pitpitunge sprawls well.
Pitpitunge is looking to clinch.

Pitpitunge takes the fight into the clinch.
Harris is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pitpitunge gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Pitpitunge drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Harris gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Pitpitunge pulls guard.
Harris throws an elbow that misses. Pitpitunge uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Harris's guard. Nice move by Pitpitunge!
Harris bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pitpitunge's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitpitunge keeping moving, preventing Harris from controlling successfully.
Pitpitunge is trying to keep Harris in close.
Harris postures up in Pitpitunge's guard and throws a big left but Pitpitunge blocks it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Harris is looking to work some ground and pound but Pitpitunge has wrist control.
Pitpitunge is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Harris drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Harris jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Harris looking to sit in guard and control but Pitpitunge gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Harris is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Pitpitunge connects with a couple of short punches.

Pitpitunge throws a big right hand that misses.
Harris wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Harris is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Harris had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pitpitunge defends it easily.
Harris is looking to sweep but instead, Pitpitunge has passed into half guard.
Phil Harris has got the better of the ground game so far.
Harris preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Harris closes the distance but Pitpitunge moves to the side
and Pitpitunge makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Harris really felt that one!

Pitpitunge gets tackled into the cage by Harris. Harris maintains the clinch.
Harris wants a takedown but no success here.
Pitpitunge creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Harris's defenses.

Pitpitunge drops down looking for an ankle pick but Harris pulls his leg out and moves away.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Pitpitunge!
Pitpitunge shoots in for a double leg but Harris sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Alecxsander Pitpitunge. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Harris changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pitpitunge tries to avoid it but Harris manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pitpitunge to the ground. Pitpitunge escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Pitpitunge tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Harris will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Harris stuffs the takedown attempt from Pitpitunge. Pitpitunge gets slowly back to his feet.
Pitpitunge sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Harris works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Harris throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Pitpitunge works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Pitpitunge is controlling Harris's posture.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Pitpitunge is looking to stand up but Harris isn't so interested in that idea.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Harris shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Harris was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pitpitunge is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Pitpitunge is working to avoid the ground and pound but Harris connects with a decent elbow.

Harris is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pitpitunge has escaped the position, nice work there.

Harris is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pitpitunge is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Pitpitunge manages to work his way to half guard, despite Harris's best efforts.

Harris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pitpitunge is just riding it out for now. Harris eventually gives up the hold.

Pitpitunge is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Harris thows a huge punch but Pitpitunge dodges it nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Harris looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Harris is trying to control the action in half guard but Pitpitunge is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Phil Harris comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Harris winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
