And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nicholson tries a head kick but it misses.
Jue Nicholson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mendoza fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Mendoza moves out of range as Nicholson throws a body kick.
Nicholson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mendoza paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Nicholson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Nicholson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mendoza sprawls well. Mendoza wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Nicholson gets slowly back to his feet.

Mendoza feints and as Nicholson raises his hands in defense, Mendoza changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mendoza stands up over Nicholson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mendoza lands a couple of elbows.
Mendoza might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mendoza cracks Nicholson with a solid left hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
