Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malik Shabazz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Malik Shabazz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aaron Patterson! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Jorge Garcia and Alyssa Summers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Patterson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shabazz's half guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Patterson decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Patterson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shabazz to score with a decent uppercut. Patterson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. A combination from Patterson does no damage. Shabazz throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Patterson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Aaron Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Patterson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Shabazz scores with the left hand. Patterson knows he should have avoided that one. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Shabazz scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shabazz lands a jab to the head.
Shabazz with a jab. Patterson fails in his attempt to clinch. Shabazz cracks Patterson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Shabazz keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Shabazz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Patterson is looking to work some ground and pound but Shabazz has wrist control. Shabazz being controlled here, momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Aaron Patterson was stalling too much, according to the referee. Shabazz cracks Patterson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Shabazz connects with the punch. Patterson walks into a jab. Nice takedown defense from Shabazz. No joy for Patterson on that attempt. Malik Shabazz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Aaron Patterson. Patterson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Shabazz is letting Patterson control him for a moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson decides to take the fight back to the feet. Shabazz fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Shabazz dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Shabazz is looking to clinch. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Shabazz, as that shot connected.

Patterson is looking to clinch but Shabazz is avoiding it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shabazz's guard. Shabazz knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Patterson on the ground. Patterson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Patterson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Patterson wants to pass the guard but Shabazz is keeping the position. Patterson gets to his feet. Shabazz looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Shabazz tries to clinch up but Patterson circles away and keeps his distance. Patterson feints and as Shabazz raises his hands in defense, Patterson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Patterson dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Shabazz ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Malik Shabazz is winning the standup battle so far. Shabazz connects with a jab. Patterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Shabazz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Patterson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Shabazz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Patterson tries to clinch but Shabazz moves out of range. Patterson throws a lazy head kick and Shabazz counters with a straight right hand. Aaron Patterson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Shabazz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson gets the takedown into side control. Patterson controlling the position. Patterson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Shabazz has escaped the position, nice work there. Patterson cracks Shabazz with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Let's hope that Patterson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Patterson stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson drives through with a takedown into Shabazz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Patterson pushes down on Shabazz's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Patterson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Aaron Patterson wasn't active enough on the ground. Patterson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Shabazz cracks Patterson with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Patterson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Patterson takes a shot to the body in his stride.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Shabazz with a hook. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Patterson drives through with a takedown into Shabazz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patterson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Aaron Patterson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Shabazz connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Patterson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Aaron Patterson has got the better of the ground game so far. Patterson has an Americana. Shabazz didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Patterson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Patterson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
