Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Areeno! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nathan Redmond! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Areeno misses with a low kick as Redmond jumps back. A nice inside leg kick there by Areeno. That's going to slow Redmond down. A bone on bone clash there as Redmond blocks the leg kick.
Redmond gets a clinch. Areeno can't find room to land a body shot as Redmond controls the action.
Areeno misses with a hook to the ribs.
Redmond misses with a short punch on the inside. Areeno has a couple of punches blocked by Redmond.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Areeno stalling in the clinch but Redmond improves position. A right handed body shot lands from Areeno.
Redmond tries to break the clinch but Areeno is controlling the position. Areeno tries a body shot but Redmond blocks it.
Redmond is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Areeno is defending well. Come on Areeno - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Areeno lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Redmond backwards. Nice body punch from Areeno - that landed with a thud.
Areeno breaks from the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redmond bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Areeno's head. Redmond takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Areeno is looking to score with low kicks. Redmond avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Areeno thows a leg kick but Redmond checks it and Redmond counters with a good, hard body kick but Areeno shrugs it off. Areeno tries to land a front kick but Redmond steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Redmond takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Redmond misses the jab. Redmond checks a low kick from Areeno. Areeno displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Redmond throws out the jab. Areeno lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Areeno misses with a low kick.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Redmond lands a left and a right that sends Areeno crashing to the canvas! Redmond dives into mount looking to finish!
Areeno is rocked!
It looks like Steve Areeno has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Redmond throws some wild stikes that Areeno manages to avoid easily.
Oh Areeno is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Areeno is looking to get to half guard. Redmond landing punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Oooooh, big shot lands for Redmond! Areeno is hurt baaadly! Redmond is firing away with more strikes - Areeno is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
