Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Clay Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Clay Matthews! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eduardo Acosta! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Skip Squint and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matthews scores with the left hand. Acosta knows he should have avoided that one. Clay Matthews seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Acosta looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Acosta walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Matthews throws a low kick, looking for Acosta's leg but Acosta calmly moves out of range. Nice shot by Matthews. Matthews changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Matthews lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Acosta is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Matthews lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Good exchange - Matthews coming out on top. Matthews is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A jab from Matthews does it's job there. That's one minute gone in the round. Matthews jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Acosta walks away with a smile on his face. Matthews gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Matthews scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. A left lands for Matthews. Matthews throws a good cross that connects.
Matthews lands a jab to Acosta's midsection. A decent looking body kick lands there for Matthews. Matthews throws a body kick that misses. Matthews fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. No luck for Acosta with that takedown attempt. Matthews bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Acosta's head backwards. Acosta with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Matthews to score with a decent uppercut. The fight stays on the outside here - Acosta looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Matthews works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matthews throws out a powerful jab. Matthews connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Acosta's hands. Matthews cracks Acosta with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Acosta blocks a head kick by Matthews.

Good standup being displayed there by Matthews as he connects with a hook. Matthews shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Acosta doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Matthews turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Acosta takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Matthews jabs at Acosta's body. A head kick misses from Matthews. Acosta has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matthews stuns Acosta with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Acosta closes the distance and clinches. Acosta prevents Matthews from breaking the clinch. Acosta avoiding damage.

Matthews is trying to force a seperation but Acosta has the dominant position. Acosta blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Acosta breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matthews connects with a body shot. Matthews stuns Acosta with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Matthews lands the left hand. Matthews throws a body kick that misses and Acosta counters by clinching up. Acosta successfully pulls guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Acosta is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Acosta is trying to keep Matthews in close.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Acosta keeping moving, preventing Matthews from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Clay Matthews dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Acosta walks into a jab. Eduardo Acosta is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Acosta looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Matthews! Matthews is trying to get back to half guard. Acosta working away. Matthews is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acosta wants to lay and pray for a moment but Matthews keeps working. Matthews is looking to reverse the position. Matthews tries to buck Acosta off but Acosta is having none of it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Matthews fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Matthews misses with an attempted mid kick.

Acosta shoots in and drives through. Matthews sprawls well. A clash of legs there as Acosta blocks the low kick. Matthews connects with a looping right hand.

Acosta pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Matthews lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Acosta has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Acosta and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Matthews scoring well with a low kick there.
Acosta takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Matthews lands the left hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Matthews lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Acosta at a distance.

Acosta closes the distance and clinches. Matthews doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Acosta gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Acosta is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Acosta trying to control but Matthews is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Eduardo Acosta will probably get the nod - 10:9. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Donk. Matthews catches Acosta right on the button with a cross. Matthews fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Acosta looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Matthews fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Acosta is out of range. Matthews throws a push kick but Acosta slaps the foot to one side. Acosta is looking to clinch but Matthews is avoiding it.
Matthews wants to slow Acosta down by chopping away at his legs. Matthews pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Acosta back to the cage. Matthews follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Acosta closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Acosta lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Matthews down.
Matthews wants to control but Acosta postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Acosta wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Matthews, who protects the arm well. Acosta decides to stand back up. Acosta steps back and let's Matthews get back to his feet. Matthews on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matthews lands with a straight right. Acosta didn't see that one coming. Acosta takes a shot right to the bread basket. Acosta misses the shot to the body. Matthews scores with a nice head shot. Matthews bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Acosta shoots in and bounces Matthews off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Acosta distracts Matthews with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acosta thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Matthews looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Matthews is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Acosta is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Acosta controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Clay Matthews just wasn't active enough. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Acosta. The fight stays on the outside here - Acosta looks like he's thinking about clinching though. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Matthews will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
