PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Krissu Krissi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Downy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Downy's choice of entrance music: Riot by 3 days grace. The key to victory for Krissu Krissi has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Krissu Krissi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jon Downy!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Krissi with a lazy takedown attempt

and Downy counters by clinching up.
Downy is working for takedown but Krissi is calmly controlling the position for now.

Krissi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Downy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Krissi is looking to clinch but Downy is avoiding it.
Krissi throws a sloppy head kick and Downy moves out of range easily.
Krissi dives in and grabs Downy's left leg, looking for a takedown. Downy pushes down on Krissi's head and hops out.
Krissi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krissu Krissi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Krissi gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Krissi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Krissi misses with a takedown attempt
letting Downy counter with a right hand.
Krissi ducks under a wild hook from Downy.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Krissi enables Downy to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Krissi manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Krissi wants to stand up but Downy is controlling him.
Krissi is breathing heavily.
Downy throwing strikes but missing.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Downy's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Downy content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Downy works over Krissi with some ground and pound from guard.
Downy is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Downy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Downy chips away with some ground and pound.
Downy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Krissi is looking to stand up but Downy isn't so interested in that idea.
Downy with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Downy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Downy passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Krissi struggling a bit here.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Krissi takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Downy is putting a hurting on Krissi here, landing some big shots from side control.
Downy works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.


Krissi is rocked!
Downy looks up at the clock and then as Krissi takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Downy smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Oh Krissi is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Krissi is not content to let Downy control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Downy cracks Krissi with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Downy immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Krissi is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Downy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jon Downy!
Our winner, Jon Downy, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
