Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khru Kang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Watson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kang comes to the cage accompanied by Goldberg Entrance Theme by WCW. Watson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Hells Bells" by AC/DC. Ricky Watson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Watson. No joy for Kang on that attempt. Watson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Kang closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. A short right from Kang on the inside. Watson wants to break free but Kang has control.

Watson is staying active underneath Kang, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Kang working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Kang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kang shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khru Kang. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kang pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ricky Watson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Watson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Kang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kang lands in his opponent's guard. Kang is taking a break and basically stalling. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kang pushes down on Watson's leg and manages to get into half guard. Watson taking shots to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kang breaks from Watson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Kang working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Watson wants to hold on but Kang pushes him away.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Watson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Kang is landing with some decent strikes but Watson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Khru Kang overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kang putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Kang postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Watson looks a forlorn figure.
Kang lands a big shot there that rocks Watson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Watson is rocked! Kang has control of Watson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Watson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Watson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kang kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Kang lands an elbow to the side of the head.
