Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putnam comes to the cage accompanied by tap out. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ronnie Putnam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, James Mitchell! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Putnam will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Putnam shoots and misses and Mitchell counters with a head kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Putnam. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Putnam. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mitchell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Putnam tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mitchell paws at him with a jab and circles away. Putnam misses with a takedown and Mitchell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Putnam takes a jab right on the kisser.

Mitchell lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Putnam circles away quickly and effectively. Putnam looks to land a right hand but Mitchell moved out of range. Mitchell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Putnam changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mitchell tries to avoid it but Putnam manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mitchell to the ground. Mitchell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Mitchell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mitchell throws a series of punches but Putnam moves out of range. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Putnam fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Putnam moves in looking to clinch but Mitchell pushes him off. Mitchell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Putnam moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mitchell keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
James Mitchell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Putnam moves into the clinch. Mitchell pulls guard effortlessly. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Putnam won't allow Mitchell to get back to his feet. Mitchell wants to sweep but no luck. Putnam throws a big right hand that misses. Mitchell wants to get back to his feet but Putnam is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mitchell wants to sweep but no luck. Putnam lands a couple of decent looking shots. Putnam trying to control but Mitchell is working from the bottom. Putnam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mitchell is keeping the position for now.

Putnam wants to get up but he can't break Mitchell's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Putnam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mitchell wants to stand and escape but Putnam is having none of it. This has been an exciting period of action!
Ronnie Putnam has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Putnam shoots in but Mitchell avoids the takedown attempt easily. Mitchell throws a right and a left that both miss. Mitchell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Mitchell misses with a jab, cross combination.
Putnam has his takedown stuffed and Mitchell counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Putnam tries to clinch but Mitchell is having none of it. Mitchell leaves Putnam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Putnam.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Putnam throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mitchell's waist but Mitchell gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Putnam off to one side. Mitchell scores with a kick to the body.

Putnam looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Mitchell moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Putnam fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Mitchell scores with a nice strike. Mitchell throws a combination. Putnam tries to block but a couple of punches get through. This has been an exciting period of action! Putnam doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mitchell counters with a body kick. Mitchell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Putnam shoots and misses and Mitchell counters with a series of strikes. Putnam will be more careful next time no doubt. Putnam is breathing heavily. Mitchell slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Putnam is trying hard to land a takedown here. Mitchell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Mitchell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Putnam takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Putnam fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Mitchell throws a right hand that Putnam ducks under and follows up with a left that Putnam also avoids with ease. Mitchell lands a head kick!
Good work by Mitchell as he checks the leg kick. Mitchell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Mitchell slaps away a takedown attempt from Putnam, before circling back to the center of the mat. Putnam shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mitchell defends it nicely. Mitchell throws a head kick but Putnam moves out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Nice straight punches there by Mitchell. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Mitchell. Putnam showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mitchell.

Mitchell throws a nice looking combination but Putnam bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Mitchell cracks Putnam with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Putnam walks into a left hand. Putnam takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Putnam takes a kick to the side of the head. Putnam doesn't succeed with the takedown and Mitchell counters with a lovely straight right hand! Mitchell connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Putnam momentarily.
Mitchell lands with a right hand. Mitchell drives through and clinches with Putnam against the cage.
Mitchell manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. This has been an exciting period of action! Mitchell is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mitchell trying to control from the bottom.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Putnam wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mitchell keeps working. Putnam is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mitchell tries to kick Putnam off but Putnam keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Mitchell is looking for a sweep. Putnam is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Mitchell controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Mitchell keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Mitchell works his way to full guard. Good work. Mitchell wants to get back to his feet but Putnam is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mitchell is trying to control the position but Putnam postures up. Mitchell utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Putnam in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Putnam throws a big elbow that misses. Putnam is looking to work some ground and pound but Mitchell has wrist control. Mitchell is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Mitchell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Putnam. That's going to take a lot out of him. Putnam closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mitchell circles away. A punch combination from Mitchell misses. Mitchell shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Putnam eats them both and turns towards Mitchell to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Mitchell lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Mitchell scores with a jab. Putnam acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Mitchell with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

That's one minute gone in the round. Mitchell scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Putnam looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Putnam closes the distance looking to clinch and Mitchell counters with a series of strikes. Putnam will be more careful next time no doubt. Mitchell feints a jab promting Putnam to slip. Mitchell then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Putnam slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. A slapping leg kick lands for Mitchell.
Mitchell throws a body punch but Putnam moves out of range. Mitchell throws a nice looking combination but Putnam bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Putnam closes the distance and clinches up with Mitchell, looking for a takedown. Putnam pushes Mitchell against the cage but Mitchell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Nice jab there from Mitchell. Putnam showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mitchell.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Putnam moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Mitchell lands an overhand right. Putnam misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Mitchell throws a push kick but Putnam slaps the foot to one side. Putnam is looking to clinch but Mitchell is avoiding it.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Putnam is defended easily by Mitchell. Both fighters are breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mitchell moves into range and connects with a jab. Putnam on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Mitchell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mitchell works over Putnam's head and body with a nice combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Putnam fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Mitchell gets caught napping as Putnam dives in and scores a takedown. Mitchell manages to retain guard. Putnam throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mitchell works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mitchell wants to get back to his feet but Putnam is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Mitchell keeping moving, preventing Putnam from controlling successfully. James Mitchell has got the better of the ground game so far. Putnam stops Mitchell from standing up. Putnam throwing strikes but missing. Putnam trying to control the position from guard on top but Mitchell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mitchell wants to sweep but no luck.
We're going to have a standup here because Ronnie Putnam wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Some wild striking there from Mitchell.
Mitchell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. James Mitchell is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. James Mitchell seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The fight stays on the outside here - Putnam looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Mitchell defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Putnam. Mitchell tries to land a front kick but Putnam steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Mitchell scores to the head and body with a nice combination! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mitchell throws a head kick but Putnam moves out of range.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Putnam darts in trying to clinch and Mitchell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
And that's the end of the fight! James Mitchell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Mitchell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
