Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julio Madrigal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christopher Hero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hero has chosen No shelter - Rage against the machine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Julio Madrigal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
17 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christopher Hero! The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Madrigal with a hook. A punch combination from Hero misses. Madrigal throws a series of punches but Hero avoids them all with ease. A lazy left from Madrigal finds it's target. Madrigal lands a body shot.
Hero wants to clinch. Madrigal throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hero was covering up waiting for the punch and Madrigal finishes the takedown easily into guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Madrigal scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Madrigal trying to control but Hero is working from the bottom. Madrigal is stalling in the full guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Madrigal accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hero has momentary wrist control but Madrigal slips an elbow through the middle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hero can't keep his opponent in guard - Madrigal advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Madrigal wants to control but Hero is keeping him busy. Hero wants to get back to his feet.
Hero is controlling Madrigal's trapped leg to prevent Madrigal from advancing to side control. Hero wants to get back to full guard. Hero tries to kick Madrigal off in order to stand up. Madrigal Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Madrigal is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Hero is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Madrigal looks up at the clock and then as Hero takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Madrigal smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Madrigal is trying to get an arm triangle but Hero is defending well. Hero tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Madrigal wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Madrigal working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Madrigal lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hero down.
Madrigal in side control lands a decent elbow. Madrigal cracks Hero with a big elbow. Check out the look on Madrigal's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Madrigal is looking to take a break and control but Hero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Madrigal tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Madrigal has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Madrigal wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hero, who protects the arm well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madrigal scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Hero to see if he's OK. Madrigal is trying to get an arm triangle but Hero is defending well. Madrigal is looking to take a break and control but Hero is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Madrigal swings around for an armbar but Hero sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Madrigal's guard. Hero wants to pass the guard but Madrigal is keeping the position. Hero is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Madrigal has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hero doesn't defend quickly enough and Madrigal has managed to lock this one up! Can Hero escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Madrigal on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Julio Madrigal! A very excited looking Julio Madrigal made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
