1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Debor Tan! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Negreanu looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Tan is fending him off so far but Negreanu persists. Nope, Tan circles away and we're back to standing. Tan throws a chopping leg kick but Negreanu manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Tan tries a head kick but it misses.
Negreanu misses with a looping right. Negreanu scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Tan moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Tan can't keep his opponent in guard - Negreanu advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Tan is trying to get back to full guard. Tan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Negreanu is working away from the top position though. Tan has a hand on Negreanu's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Negreanu takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Negreanu trying to control but he's not successful this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Negreanu content just to control the position here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Negreanu is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Tan has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Tan! Tan throws a big right hand that misses. Negreanu pulls Tan in close to prevent any damage. Tan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Negreanu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Negreanu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Tan thows a big elbow that misses. Negreanu looking for a sweep. Not yet Negreanu, not yet.

Now he's in top in Tan's guard. Tan keeping moving, preventing Negreanu from controlling successfully. Negreanu throws and elbow that misses. Tan uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Negreanu's guard. Nice move by Tan! Tan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Negreanu is proving hard to escape from. Tan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Tan stands up from guard. Let's bang! Negreanu misses with a hook. Tan ducked under it nicely.

He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Negreanu controlling from the top position. Negreanu passes easily into side control. Nice work. Negreanu tries to bum rush Tan with a series of wild strikes but Tan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tan getting the better of the striking in that exchange. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Negreanu checks a leg kick. Negreanu moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Daniel Negreanu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tan is looking to land body kicks. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Debor Tan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Negreanu takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Tan moves forwards but Negreanu connects with a nice, crisp jab. Tan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Negreanu. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Ohhhhhhhhhh, brutal head kick from Tan! This one is all over!
