Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Chopper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Cote (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cote has chosen For Those About To Rock - ACDC as his entrance music. Chris Cote will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tony Chopper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Cote!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cote loads up on a big right hand but Chopper slips the punch.
Cote fails with the takedown.

It looks like Tony Chopper has been cut.

Chopper is rocked!
Chopper uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Cote.
Oh Chopper is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cote throws a jab when Chopper was well out of range.
Chopper seems to have got his legs back now.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cote throws a series of punches but Chopper avoids them all with ease.

Chopper moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Chopper bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Chopper takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Cote misses with a double jab.
Cote throws a lazy right hand but Chopper sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Chopper closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Cote quickly recovers to half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Still in half guard, Chopper seems content to control.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cote can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Chopper will probably get the nod.

Chris Cote seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cote tries to clinch but Chopper moves away
and Chopper makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Cote looks to throw the jab but Chopper is out of range.

Chris Cote is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cote might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Chopper, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
