Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruud Davids (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Wheel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Davids comes to the cage accompanied by Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ruud Davids! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Wheel! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wheel looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Wheel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wheel showed some decent athleticism there. Davids avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Wheel. Davids keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. Wheel is thwarting Davids's attempts to control the position. Davids is looking to improve his position.
Davids looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Davids is staying active underneath Wheel, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wheel is thwarting Davids's attempts to control the position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. An inside leg kick from Davids misses. Ruud Davids seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davids fails to land the takedown. Wheel throws a head kick that misses. Wheel has his takedown stuffed and Davids counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Davids connects with a nice short shot to Wheel's temple. Davids looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Davids throwing shots but Wheel is blocking nicely. Wheel won't allow Davids to pass to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davids working the head and body with strikes. Davids thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Wheel to regain full guard. Davids won't allow Wheel to sweep him here. Wheel should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Davids landing with the ground and pound. Davids drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davids jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Davids has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Davids is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wheel is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wheel has escaped and now he's on top! Davids is breathing heavily. Wheel postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wheel wants to pass the guard but Davids is keeping the position. Wheel tries to stand but Davids is controlling from the bottom. Davids will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Davids throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Wheel wants to control from the top but Davids keeps moving. Davids looking for a sweep. Not yet Davids, not yet. Davids is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Davids drops an elbow to the side of Wheel's head. Davids thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Davids frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Wheel takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Wheel is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Wheel is bucking up trying to escape but Davids cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Davids trying to control but Wheel is having none of it. Davids with the ground and pound from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ruud Davids dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Wheel rushes Davids and presses him up against the cage. Davids tries for a takedown but Wheel manages to get underhooks.
Wheel is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Davids ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Davids no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Wheel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Davids looking to control.
Wheel won't allow Davids to sweep him here. Wheel wanted to stand there but Davids had control of the position. Wheel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davids. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Davids throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wheel is posturing up here but Davids has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Wheel tries to roll out but it's too tight and Wheel has to tap! Slick submission there by Davids!
