Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wes Sloggett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ana Otara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wes Sloggett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ana Otara! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloggett closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Otara quickly recovers to half guard. Sloggett is looking to take a break and control but Otara is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Otara wants to control but Sloggett is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sloggett trying to control the action but Otara is working from the bottom. Sloggett is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Sloggett will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sloggett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Otara sees it coming and defends easily. Sloggett escapes and gets back to his feet. Otara shoots in looking for a takedown but Sloggett manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Otara's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Otara scores with a kick to the body.
Otara shoots in for a takedown but Sloggett shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Otara wants to clinch up but Sloggett keeps it at a distance. Sloggett misses with a wild combination.
Sloggett shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Sloggett gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Otara ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sloggett moves away. Sloggett throws a series of punches but Otara moves out of range. Sloggett darts in and clinches Otara up against the cage. Sloggett connects with a nasty looking knee right to Otara's face.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloggett jumps into guard, dragging Otara to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sloggett looking for subs off his back but Otara has passed one foot through into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Otara prevents Sloggett from improving his position. Sloggett trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Otara manages to pass to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloggett sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Otara is keen to just control but Sloggett is a slippery customer. Otara prevents Sloggett from improving his position. Sloggett is not content to let Otara control the position. Otara looks winded!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sloggett trying to hold on to Otara's head to control him but Otara postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Otara wants to clinch. Sloggett scores with a spinning back kick! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Sloggett throws a quick inside leg kick. Otara shoots in but Sloggett avoids the takedown attempt easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Sloggett dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Otara misses with a double jab
and Sloggett counters with an inside leg kick. Sloggett closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Otara did well to prevent Sloggett getting side control. Sloggett frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Sloggett working the ground and pound effectively.
Sloggett can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Otara is looking to escape. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sloggett goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Otara is on top in guard.
Otara drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Sloggett dives on top into guard. Otara is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloggett decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. No luck with that takedown attempt from Otara. A solid leg kick lands there for Sloggett.

Otara is looking to take this one to the mat. Sloggett breaks from the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloggett closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Sloggett decides to stand up. Otara walks forward, straight into a front kick from Sloggett. Sloggett thuds his shin into the meat of Otara's side. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Sloggett looks to land a combination but Otara avoids it well. Sloggett instigates a clinch. Sloggett's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Sloggett gets in close and instigates a clinch. That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloggett closes the distance and clinches. Sloggett is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Otara can't fight it off and eventually Sloggett manages to take the fight to the floor. Otara looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Sloggett pushing down on Otara's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Sloggett lands strikes from half guard. Sloggett is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Otara is just riding it out for now. Sloggett eventually gives up the hold. Sloggett stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Otara to get to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sloggett forces Otara back against the cage and clinches. Otara is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Sloggett is keeping busy. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sloggett connects with a nasty looking knee right to Otara's face.
Sloggett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sloggett has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Otara regains guard immediately. Sloggett drops back looking for a leg! Otara is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Otara manages to kick Sloggett off! Sloggett jumps back into Otara's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danga de danga de dang - Sloggett scores with a four punch combination! Sloggett stuffs the takedown. Sloggett swats away the attempt to clinch by Otara. Otara gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sloggett counters with a three punch combo that has Otara backing up. Otara nods at Sloggett to acknowledge the strikes. Sloggett rushes Otara and presses him up against the cage. Sloggett escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sloggett gets a takedown into half guard. Otara takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sloggett stands up and beckons Otara to join him on the feet. Otara moves in looking to clinch but Sloggett pushes him off. Sloggett has managed to clinch.
Sloggett stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Sloggett has Otara pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Sloggett pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Otara tumbling to the mat - Sloggett dives into Otara's guard. Sloggett stands up from guard. Let's bang! Ana Otara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sloggett clinches with his opponent.
Sloggett gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sloggett seems to be looking for submissions.
Sloggett decides to stand up. Sloggett decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Sloggett stops Otara from getting back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sloggett working for a submission but Otara is keeping him at bay. Otara defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Sloggett. Otara is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Sloggett wants to finish this one by submission but Otara is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Sloggett. Sloggett gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sloggett scores with a kick to the body.
Wes Sloggett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Sloggett scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Sloggett perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Sloggett lands strikes from half guard. Sloggett decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Sloggett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Otara can do to turn this around? Otara tries for a takedown but Sloggett circles away easily and Sloggett counters with an outside leg kick.
Wes Sloggett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ana Otara. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Otara takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Ana Otara has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wes Sloggett is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Otara misses with the combination.
And that's the end of the fight! Wes Sloggett showed his dominance in that final round. Well Sloggett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
