Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Millar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Torinaka Gomi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Shimada and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Millar takes one to the side of the head.
Millar lands with a kick to the temple. Gomi shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Gomi thuds a left hand into Millar's body.
A telegraphed right hand from Gomi misses the target.
The fighters circling - Gomi throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Millar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Gomi misses with a body shot.

Millar fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Gomi to the ground. Millar is now in Gomi's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gomi pulls Millar in close to prevent any damage.
Gomi is looking to stand back up but Millar counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Gomi.
Gomi looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Millar is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gomi defends it well.

Gomi is defending against the submission attempts here by Millar.
Gomi is controlling Millar's position as best he can from this difficult position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Millar is looking for a kimura here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Gomi manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Gomi pulls Millar in to control the position.
Millar slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gomi keeping moving, preventing Millar from controlling successfully.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Millar working some strikes from top position.
Gomi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Millar trying to control but Gomi is working from the bottom.
Millar slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gomi stops Millar from passing to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Millar tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Millar working the ground and pound but Gomi is defending the strikes.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gomi is trying to get back to half guard.
Gomi tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Millar easily slips into full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Millar will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gomi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Gomi digs a good hook to Millar's body.
Gomi misses with a wild body shot.
Michael Millar is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Gomi misses with a wild body shot.
Gomi thows a body shot but no joy.
Gomi swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Gomi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Millar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Millar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gomi as he avoids it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gomi lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
A big left from Gomi misses.
Gomi throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gomi lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.


Millar is rocked!
Gomi misses with a hook. Millar ducked under it nicely.
Oh Millar is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Millar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Nice body punch from Gomi.
Torinaka Gomi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Millar takes a body punch but keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Millar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gomi.
Gomi fakes the body blow, causing Millar to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Millar goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Torinaka Gomi!
Torinaka Gomi gave a mention to Backyard Fighting in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
