Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ricardo Lamas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Dirt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ricardo Lamas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jim Dirt!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dirt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lamas to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Dirt is wriggling around but Lamas manages to pass to half guard.
Dirt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lamas. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lamas wants to pass to mount but Dirt is defending the position.
Lamas is keen to just control but Dirt is a slippery customer.
Lamas lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Dirt is looking to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lamas wants to pass the guard but Dirt is defending well.
Lamas trying to control from half guard but Dirt is working away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lamas thows a huge punch but Dirt dodges it nicely.

Lamas stops Dirt from getting back to his feet.
Lamas is nestled in close to Dirt, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Dirt is defending against the submission attempts here by Lamas.

Lamas is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Dirt has managed to free his arm - good work.
Lamas has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Lamas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dirt keeps working.

Lamas decides to stand and escape the position.
Lamas fails with a takedown attempt.
Lamas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dirt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Lamas somewhat.

Lamas tries for a takedown but Dirt sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Lamas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lamas.
Dirt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lamas is breathing heavily.
Dirt throws a nice looking combination but Lamas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dirt stuffs the takedown.

Dirt gets caught napping as Lamas dives in and scores a takedown. Dirt manages to retain guard.
Dirt is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lamas trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lamas would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lamas being controlled here momentarily.
Dirt will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Lamas tries to free his leg and advance position but Dirt is retaining full guard.
Lamas throwing strikes from guard but Dirt blocks nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lamas prevents Dirt from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Dirt keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Lamas blocks a head kick by Dirt.
Lamas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lamas closes the distance and clinches up with Dirt, looking for a takedown. Lamas pushes Dirt against the cage but Dirt circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricardo Lamas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dirt wants to clinch up but Lamas keeps it at a distance.
Lamas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Dirt defends it nicely.

Dirt clinches with his opponent.
Lamas drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Dirt gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lamas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Dirt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Dirt fails to land with a series of punches.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dirt closes the distance and clinches up with Lamas, looking for a takedown. Dirt pushes Lamas against the cage but Lamas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Dirt throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Lamas.

Lamas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dirt looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dirt looking for a sweep but Lamas has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Dirt bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Lamas isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Dirt stacks Lamas on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Dirt!
Lamas looks to move to half guard but instead Dirt has passed into mount! Damn!
Lamas is in all sorts of trouble here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Lamas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Dirt lands a big shot there that rocks Lamas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lamas bucks up and throws Dirt to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Dirt goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Lamas fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Dirt gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Dirt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lamas stands and steps away. Dirt gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dirt misses with a few strikes there.

Lamas feints and as Dirt raises his hands in defense, Lamas changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lamas lands a couple of elbows.
Lamas wants to stand but Dirt is controlling his posture from full guard.
Dirt keeping moving, preventing Lamas from controlling successfully.
Dirt is looking to stand up but Lamas isn't so interested in that idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lamas is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Lamas postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Dirt is trying to control the position here. Lamas has hold of a guillotine from the top though... oh, that looks naaaaasty, will Dirt tap? Yes he will! The fight is all over! Lamas jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ricardo Lamas!
