PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Armor King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). King comes to the cage accompanied by Armor King. Bob has chosen Notkea rotta - Itä meidän as his entrance music. Armor King has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Armor King!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Billy Bob!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King slaps away a takedown attempt from Bob, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from King.

Bob drives through with a takedown into guard.
King is trying to keep Bob in close.
King is really struggling to control Bob but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Armor King wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bob stalks King and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into King's face. King staggers backwards, shaken.
King has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bob finds it's way round the side to connect with King's head.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bob crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from King - the referee stops the clock and Bob gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says King. Bob manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bob shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Bob's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from King.
King moves in looking to clinch but Bob pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob swings and misses with a hook to the body.
King throws a right and a left that Bob avoids nicely.
King ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bob moves away.
Bob takes a swing at King's ribcage but misses.
Billy Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bob swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A punch combination from Bob misses.
Bob looks to land a combination. King sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Bob avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Bob motions for King to come forward. Bob throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
King lands a slapping body shot.
Bob looks winded!
King shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Armor King. That's going to take a lot out of him.
King pulls out of a head kick attempt.
King tries to clinch but Bob moves out of range.
Bob avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

King drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
King trying to control but Bob is working from the bottom.

Bob is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. King is aware though and is defending well.
Bob bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in King's guard.
King controls Bob momentarily but Bob frees himself.
Bob won't allow King to get back to his feet.
King looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

King has his foot on Bob's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bob works his way back into a safe position though.

Bob is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! King is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! King has escaped and now he's on top!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bob looking for submissions from the bottom but instead King passes into half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
King missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bob is refusing to be controlled, as King sits in half guard.
King throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Bob to regain full guard.
King might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Bob keeping moving, preventing King from controlling successfully.
Bob wants to stand but King is controlling the position.
King scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
King controlling from the top position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

King stands up from Bob's guard - King perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Armor King will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


King throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bob's waist but Bob gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing King off to one side.
King is looking to clinch but Bob is avoiding it.
King slips a jab and a cross from Bob.
Bob fails to land with a series of punches.

King fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bob to the ground. King is now in Bob's guard.
King working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Bob escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. King gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
King trying to move into half guard but instead Bob has managed to sweep!
King is trying to keep Bob in close.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bob doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bob manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Bob throws an elbow that misses. King uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bob's guard. Nice move by King!
King is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Bob working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. King doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. King manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
King wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.

Bob looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! King has picked Bob up and slammed him! Bob can't keep hold of the triangle and King manages to pass to side control!

King stands up and beckons Bob to his feet.
Bob throws a left and a right that both miss

and King counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bob's guard now.

Bob looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
King trying to control the position from guard on top but Bob is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
King passes Bob's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

King seems to be working for a kimura but Bob defends the submission attempt.
King controlling the action here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
King tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bob knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

King seems to be looking for submissions.
King is looking to advance position but Bob won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bob moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Armor King overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King wants to control from the top but Bob keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Bob throws a combination that misses
and King counters with a lovely shot to the body.
King shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bob defends it nicely.
Bob waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract King.
King tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
King dives in and grabs Bob's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bob pushes down on King's head and hops out.
King connects with a nice looking jab.
Bob swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

King moves into the clinch successfully.

Bob is trying to trip King. He has hold of a leg but King is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Bob persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bob takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Bob drops back looking for a leg! King is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and King manages to kick Bob off! Bob jumps back into King's guard.
King seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bob loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
King has a closed guard, preventing Bob from standing up.

Billy Bob has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Bob tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
King is looking to clinch but Bob is avoiding it.
Bob lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
King will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

King clinches up against the cage.
King jumps guard but Bob stands there with King around his waist. King gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
King works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

King can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bob is looking to escape.

Bob sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Armor King showed his dominance in that final round.
Well King has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Armor King spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
