Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Wilson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Wesley Templar! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and Richard Clark.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wilson's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Templar connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wilson scrambles back to his feet. Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch but Templar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Templar moves out of range as Wilson strikes. Wilson looks to throw the jab but Templar is out of range. Wilson connects with a looping right hand.
It looks like Wesley Templar has been cut. Templar slips under a jab from Wilson. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wilson drives through and clinches with Templar against the cage.
Templar jumps into guard, dragging Wilson to the mat.
Templar wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Templar is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Templar manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Templar looking to finish Wilson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Wilson!
That's one minute gone in the round. Wilson is trying to stand up. Templar lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Wilson hang on? Templar controlling from the full mount. Templar punching from mount but Wilson doing a good job of avoiding damage. Templar looking to ground and pound but Wilson is blocking nicely. Templar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Templar misses with a head shot. Wilson blocking the ground and pound. Templar looking to ground and pound but Wilson is blocking nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. BOOM! Templar connects with a massive shot to the dome!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wilson is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
Templar cracks Wilson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Templar throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Wilson because Templar loaded up on that one. Templar working the ground and pound effectively.
Templar connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Templar lands a big shot there that rocks Wilson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Wilson is rocked! Templar scoring with strikes but Wilson is staying in there. Oh Wilson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Templar postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Wilson bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Templar and the fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Wesley Templar! Wesley Templar really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Milwaukee's Best 160 SALE $150 logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
