Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Romero Donovan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatenda Ihejirika (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tatenda Ihejirika has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Romero Donovan's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donovan misses with a takedown

and Ihejirika counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Ihejirika pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ihejirika looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Donovan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ihejirika circles away.
Donovan shoots for a double leg takedown but Ihejirika sprawls well. He's pushed Donovan's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Romero Donovan. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Donovan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ihejirika is working away from the top position though.

and Ihejirika counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Ihejirika has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Donovan is trying to keep an underhook but Ihejirika manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Ihejirika is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Donovan is just riding it out for now. Ihejirika eventually gives up the hold.

Ihejirika wants to pass the guard but Donovan is defending well.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A looping hook to the body misses from Ihejirika. Donovan does a little dance to reset his feet.

Ihejirika looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Donovan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ihejirika is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Ihejirika wants to take a breather but Donovan is having none of it.

Donovan looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Donovan is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Ihejirika slaps away a takedown attempt from Donovan, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Ihejirika gets control of Donovan's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ihejirika will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ihejirika wants to stand but Donovan is controlling the position.

Donovan will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ihejirika is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Donovan is working an open guard so Ihejirika takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Ihejirika has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Donovan closes the distance looking to clinch

and Ihejirika holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Tatenda Ihejirika is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Donovan. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Ihejirika jumps guard and drags Donovan to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Ihejirika has his hands on Donovan's head, controlling the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Ihejirika has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Donovan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ihejirika manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ihejirika takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well Ihejirika has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
