Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kenny Duuket! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Olli Penttila! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Duuket lands a jab to Penttila's midsection. The fight stays on the outside here - Penttila looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Duuket moves away from the strike by Penttila. Duuket buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Duuket scores with a nice body kick.
Duuket blocks a jab. Duuket listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Penttila throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Duuket. Penttila slips a jab and a cross from Duuket.
Penttila looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Penttila throws an off balance right hand
and Duuket counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A nice combination there by Penttila.
Olli Penttila seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Penttila throws a body kick that misses and Duuket counters with a nice body shot. Duuket closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Penttila can do anything to dispel that myth. Duuket working over Penttila with some ground and pound. Penttila looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Penttila looks winded! Duuket sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Penttila defending well though. Duuket performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Duuket working Penttila over with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duuket is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Duuket winds up and cracks Penttila with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Duuket moves nicely into side control. Duuket lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Check out the look on Duuket's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Duuket creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Duuket scoring with punches and elbows. Duuket cracks Penttila with a big right hand but Penttila just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Penttila is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Duuket lands a strong strike to the head of Penttila. That's dazed him! Duuket looking to finish here. Penttila is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Duuket lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenny Duuket! An out of breath Kenny Duuket thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
