Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rashad Evens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eduardo Acosta (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rashad Evens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eduardo Acosta!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Acosta misses with a takedown attempt

and Evens counters by moving into the clinch.
Acosta looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Acosta fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Evens wants to break free but Acosta has control.
A right handed body shot lands from Evens.
Evens has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Acosta after a bit of a struggle.
Acosta is trying to push Evens away but Evens has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Evens lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Evens is trying to drag Acosta to the mat but Acosta just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Evens is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Acosta gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Evens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Acosta is pressed up against the cage. Evens has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Acosta down to the mat. Acosta avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Evens closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Acosta's guard.

Evens's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Evens drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Evens jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rashad Evens.
Evens tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Acosta swivels and escapes.
Evens tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Acosta manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Evens fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Acosta, pushing him back against the cage.
Evens jumps guard but Acosta stands there with Evens around his waist. Evens gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Acosta breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Acosta is pressed up against the cage. Evens has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Acosta down to the mat. Acosta avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Evens shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Acosta's guard.

Evens shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Evens was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Eduardo Acosta hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Evens throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Acosta's waist but Acosta gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Evens off to one side.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well Evens has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
