PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Sundin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cyrus Dee Virus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sundin is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Sundin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cyrus Dee Virus!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sundin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dee Virus pinned against the cage. Dee Virus gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sundin looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
A solid body kick from Dee Virus.
Dee Virus misses with a takedown attempt - Sundin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Dee Virus drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Dee Virus trying to control the action but Sundin is working from the bottom.
Dee Virus throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dee Virus wants to stand but Sundin has his arm trapped.

Sundin seems a little lost for a moment, as Dee Virus dominates the positioning.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dee Virus cracks Sundin with a big right hand but Sundin just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Dee Virus creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Dee Virus wants to control but Sundin is keeping him busy.
Dee Virus might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sundin kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dee Virus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dee Virus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Sundin misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Dee Virus.
Cyrus Dee Virus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dee Virus changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sundin tries to avoid it but Dee Virus manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sundin to the ground. Sundin escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Dee Virus is looking to clinch but Sundin is avoiding it.
Dee Virus shoots in looking for a takedown. Sundin tries to sprawl out of it but Dee Virus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sundin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Dee Virus shoots in and bounces Sundin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Dee Virus seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dee Virus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Dee Virus drops back looking for a leg! Sundin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sundin manages to kick Dee Virus off! Dee Virus jumps back into Sundin's guard.

and Sundin counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Dee Virus closes the distance and lands a one-two.
The fight stays on the outside here - Dee Virus looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Dee Virus feints and as Sundin raises his hands in defense, Dee Virus changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sundin is looking to control Dee Virus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sundin avoid being mounted?

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Dee Virus shoots in looking for a takedown. Sundin tries to sprawl out of it but Dee Virus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sundin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Dee Virus is nestled in close to Sundin, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sundin is not content to let Dee Virus control the position.

Dee Virus lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Dee Virus closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dee Virus lands in his opponent's guard.

Sundin keeping moving, preventing Dee Virus from controlling successfully.

Sundin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Dee Virus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sundin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sundin trying to keep a closed guard but Dee Virus is proving a slippery customer.

Sundin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Dee Virus ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Dee Virus scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Dee Virus shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dee Virus showed some decent athleticism there.
Dee Virus is keen to just control but Sundin is a slippery customer.
Jeff Sundin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sundin flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Well Dee Virus has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
