Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wes Sloggett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wing Wang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wes Sloggett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wing Wang!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wang avoids the body shot from Sloggett.
Wang moves in looking to clinch but Sloggett pushes him off.
Sloggett doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Sloggett tries to keep at a distance but Wang has taken the fight into the clinch.
Wang stalling.
Wang lands with a light punch inside.
Sloggett is trying to force a seperation but Wang has the dominant position.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Sloggett keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wang's efforts to push away.
Wang wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Sloggett throws a punch but it's blocked by Wang.

Sloggett has Wang pressed against the cage, preventing Wang from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Wang scores with a hook to the body.
Wang lands an uppercut.
Sloggett wants to break free but Wang has control.
Wang lands with a short punch from the clinch.

Wang makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Sloggett is trying to pull guard but Wang turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sloggett is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Wang to keep the fight standing.

Wang tries to break free but Sloggett pushes him back against the cage.
Sloggett tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wang smiles and moves away.
Sloggett pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Wing Wang is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Wang scores with a one two! Sloggett had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Wang ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Sloggett closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wang circles away.
Sloggett is breathing heavily.

Sloggett clinches up with Wang and pushes him back against the cage.
Sloggett tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Wang smiles and moves away.

Wang closes the distance and clinches.
Wang tries to circle away but Sloggett has him pinned against the cage.
Wang's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Wang lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Wang lands with a right to the head.
Wang lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Sloggett.

Sloggett is trying to pull guard but Wang turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Wang effectively controlling the action here.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Wang.
Wang stalling.
Wang wants to get back to striking at distance but Sloggett won't allow it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Wang - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sloggett is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Wang gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Sloggett breaks from the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wang tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Sloggett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wing Wang dominated that round.

Sloggett lands a leg kick that knocks Wang off balance momentarily.
Sloggett lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wang circles away quickly and effectively.
Sloggett closes the distance looking to clinch
and Sloggett takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Sloggett swats away the attempt to clinch by Wang.
Wang throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Sloggett slips a jab from Wang.

Wang forces Sloggett back against the cage and clinches.
Sloggett tries to circle away but Wang has him pinned against the cage.
Wang is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Wang wants to get back to striking at distance but Sloggett won't allow it.
Wang works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Wang working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Wang gets through Sloggett's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Wang has Sloggett pushed against the cage.
Wang lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Wang stalling the fight.
Sloggett has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wang after a bit of a struggle.

Wang has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Wang has had enough of the clinch but Sloggett keeps him there for the moment.
Sloggett is trying to force a seperation but Wang has the dominant position.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Wang wants to break the clinch but can't.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sloggett tries to circle away but Wang has him pinned against the cage.

Wang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sloggett wants to clinch.
Wing Wang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wang throws a right and a left that Sloggett avoids nicely.

Sloggett tries to keep at a distance but Wang has taken the fight into the clinch.
Sloggett has Wang pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wang manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Sloggett keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Wang's efforts to push away.

Wang is trying to push Sloggett away but Sloggett has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Wang pushes Sloggett back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
A frustrated look appears on Wang's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sloggett connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Wing Wang has been cut.
Wang stalls.
Wang blocks an uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wing Wang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Wing Wang's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Sloggett shoots in for a takedown but Wang shows good takedown defense.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Sloggett with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sloggett pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wang is keeping the position for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wang can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sloggett trying to control but Wang is working from the bottom.

Sloggett is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sloggett is pushing down on Wang's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wang is fighting to maintain full guard but Sloggett has managed to sneak the leg through.

Sloggett tries to stand and escape but Wang is controlling the position.

Sloggett is looking for a kimura here.
Wang wants to improve his position but Sloggett is controlling well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Sloggett works his way into side control.

Sloggett decides to stand back up. Sloggett steps back and let's Wang get back to his feet.

Wang tries to sprawl but Sloggett drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Sloggett moves into full mount! Wang won't be happy about that!
Sloggett sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Wang holds of for dear life.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sloggett jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Wang manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wang is trying to buck Sloggett off.
Sloggett tries to move into full mount but can't pass Wang's legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sloggett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Wang knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Wang tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sloggett wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sloggett is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Wang is trying to escape and Sloggett transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Wang is forced to tap! Nice work there by Sloggett! Very nice indeed!

After winning the bout, Wes Sloggett thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
