Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kin Korn Karn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, David Brinker! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yuuki Gou and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karn shoots in for a double leg but Brinker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Brinker takes a swing at Karn's ribcage but misses. Sloppy strikes from Brinker. Those never looked like landing. Karn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Brinker did well to prevent Karn getting side control. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Karn trying to control from half guard but Brinker is working away. Karn looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Brinker is trying to control but can't.
Karn seems to be looking for submissions.
Karn is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Karn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's one minute gone in the round. Karn is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Brinker is just riding it out for now. Karn eventually gives up the hold. Brinker is concentrating on defense, preventing Karn from advancing position. Karn seems to be looking for submissions.
Brinker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Karn passes the guard and advances to mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karn is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Brinker is forced to tap! Great finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kin Korn Karn! Kin Korn Karn was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
