PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Blue Diablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and CM Punk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punk has chosen Cult of Personality as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Diablo stuffs the takedown attempt from Punk. Punk gets slowly back to his feet.
Punk attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Punk tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diablo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Diablo keeps the fight on the outside.

Punk gets tackled into the cage by Diablo. Diablo maintains the clinch.
Diablo jumps guard but Punk stands there with Diablo around his waist. Diablo gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Punk counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Punk shoots in and bounces Diablo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diablo is trying to drag Punk to the mat but Punk just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Punk shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Diablo's guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. CM Punk hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Diablo throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Diablo slaps away a takedown attempt from Punk, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Punk throws a powerful right kick. Diablo tried to block low but the kick was high! Diablo was taken right off of his feet! Punk jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!

CM Punk decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
