Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Goon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, D J Jackson! The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Goon to the mat! Goon manages to get full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Goon keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully. Goon is pulling down on Jackson's head to control his posture. Jackson slips nicely into half guard. Goon tries to get to full guard but Jackson has control of the leg. Goon trying to control here.
Goon is defending against the submission attempts here by Jackson.
Jackson is pressing down on Goon's thigh, looking to free his foot. Goon is holding on for now. It looks like Jackson is going to stand back up.
Jackson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
That's one minute gone in the round. Goon scores with a takedown into Jackson's guard. Goon stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Goon pushing down on Jackson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Goon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jackson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goon is working away from the top position though. Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Goon. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Goon is looking for a kimura but Jackson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goon to get the leverage. Jackson trying to control here.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet. Jackson tries to roll over but Goon keeps him under control. Goon is trying to work for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goon thows a huge punch but Jackson dodges it nicely.
Jackson is looking to improve his position.
Goon uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson. Goon trying to control but he's not successful this time. Jackson has given up his back. Will we see Goon going for some submissions?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goon missing with strikes. Jackson won't enjoy being in this position. Goon looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Jackson is tapping - it's over boys! Goon picks up the submission victory!
