Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, William Dodson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 4 - 3, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrew Havener!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Havener fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dodson, pushing him back against the cage.
Dodson wants to take the fight to the mat but Havener manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Dodson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Havener fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Dodson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Havener tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Dodson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Havener tries to clinch there but Dodson circles away.
Havener tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dodson was well out of range. Poor timing from Havener.
Horrible takedown by Dodson or perhaps it was just good defense by Havener which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Dodson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dodson shoots in but Havener avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Havener holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Havener tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Havener creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Dodson softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Dodson takes a knee to the side of the body.
Dodson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Havener walks away with a smile on his face. Dodson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Havener moves into range and clinches up with Dodson.
Havener blocks an elbow strike.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dodson can't get the takedown.
Havener misses with a knee strike.
Dodson jumps into guard, dragging Havener to the mat.
Havener content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Dodson has locked up a guillotine! Dodson's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Havener is holding on here and Dodson must be using up a lot of energy. Havener has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Dodson gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). William Dodson!
