Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Martin Con! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Drury! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Drury keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Drury is looking to chop away at Con's legs. Con shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Drury as he jumps to the side. Con misses with a low kick.
Con shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Drury but Drury pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Con. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Con fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Con throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Drury's waist but Drury gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Con off to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Con looks for a takedown but Drury sprawls well. Con fails with a takedown attempt. No joy there for Con, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Drury finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Drury has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Drury gets underhooks to prevent Con's takedown attempt.
Con successfully pulls guard.
Con keeping full guard, as Drury tries to pass. Drury controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Drury pushing down on Con's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Drury is tying to control. Con wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Con wants to get back to full guard. Drury wants to pass to mount but Con is defending the position. Drury throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Drury trying to control from half guard but Con is working away. Drury is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Con really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Con closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Drury wants to improve his position but Con is controlling well.
Con wants to take a breather but Drury is having none of it. Con is looking to advance position but Drury won't allow it. Con is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Drury has managed to free his arm - good work. Con is breathing heavily. Drury wants to control but Con is keeping busy.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Drury throws the kick towards the body but Con avoids it. Con tries for a takedown but Drury sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Drury waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Con. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The fight stays on the outside here - Drury looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Drury keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tim Drury dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
Con fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Drury looks to land a right hand but Con moved out of range. Martin Con is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Con fails with the takedown. Drury scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Con keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Drury is looking to take a break and control but Con is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Con tries to roll over but Drury keeps him under control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Drury is figuring out what he wants to do next. Drury stands up out of the half guard. Con shoots and misses and Drury counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Con! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Martin Con. That's going to take a lot out of him. Drury jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Con is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Con and Drury has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Drury advances nicely into full mount. Drury trying to control but Con is having none of it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Con working to try and regain half guard.
Drury tries to control but Con wriggling away. Con keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Drury wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Con really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Con gets back to half guard. Con looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Con moves into full guard.
Drury postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Con is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Con is pressing down on Drury's thigh, looking to free his foot. Drury is holding on for now. Con is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Con is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Drury is just riding it out for now. Con eventually gives up the hold.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Drury gets back to full guard.
Drury looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Con drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Con jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Con postures up.
Con controlling from the top position. Con passes Drury's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Con not landing any meaningful shots this time. Con seems to be working for a kimura but Drury defends the submission attempt. Con is working for a kimura but Drury is defending it quite comfortably.
Con is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Drury is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Martin Con! Martin Con retains his welterweight title!
