Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Warner!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bjorn Lannister!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lannister shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Warner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lannister trying to control the position here.
Warner lands a couple of elbows.
Warner content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Warner chips away with some ground and pound.
Warner passes Lannister's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Warner seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Lannister has recovered full guard.
Warner wants to pass the guard but Lannister is keeping the position.

Warner wants to control from the top but Lannister keeps moving.
Lannister avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Lannister is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lannister looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Warner slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Warner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Warner cracks Lannister with a big right hand but Lannister just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Warner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Warner goes for an armbar but Lannister turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lannister.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Warner is defending against the submission attempts here by Lannister.
Lannister not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Lannister is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Lannister thows a huge punch but Warner dodges it nicely.

Warner is trying to control but can't.

Lannister shoots in and drives through. Warner sprawls well.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Warner enables Lannister to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Warner manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Warner is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lannister defends well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warner tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Lannister wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Warner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Warner is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Lannister is trying to get back to full guard.

Warner is working for a submission of some sort.

Warner is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lannister doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Warner.
Warner thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lannister's head.

Lannister wants to improve his position but Warner is controlling well.

Warner is looking for a kimura here.
Warner wants to pass to mount but Lannister is defending the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lannister gets full guard.
Lannister keeping moving, preventing Warner from controlling successfully.

Lannister escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Warner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Warner wants to control from the top but Lannister keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Warner drops back, looking for a kneebar! Lannister looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Lannister looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Lannister!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Bjorn Lannister will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lannister is trying hard to land a takedown here. Warner sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

and Warner decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lannister's guard.
Warner postures up in Lannister's guard and throws a big left but Lannister blocks it.
Warner wants to control from the top but Lannister keeps moving.

Warner has gone for a leg lock! Lannister slips out almost immediately though and dives into Warner's guard.

Warner is looking for a triangle but Lannister pushes his legs off easily.
Lannister working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Lannister stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lannister trying to control the position from guard on top but Warner is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Warner looking to hit a scissor sweep but Lannister is one step ahead there.

Lannister drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Warner dives on top into guard.

Warner cracks Lannister with a solid left hand.

Warner gets to his feet. Lannister looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Warner wants to pass the guard but Lannister is keeping the position.

Warner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Lannister dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Warner trying to keep a closed guard but Lannister is proving a slippery customer.

Lannister slips nicely into half guard.
Jay Warner overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Warner avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Lannister.

Warner is in trouble now - Lannister has advanced to mount!

Warner tries to hold on but Lannister pushes him away.

Lannister quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Lannister but it's paid off an Warner is forced to tap! Nice work by Lannister.
