PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Price (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Street Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter has chosen Ona Tańczy Dla Mnie - Weekend as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter misses with a looping right.
A decent looking cross lands there for Fighter.
Price slips a straight right by Fighter.
Fighter lands with a good body shot.
Fighter scores with a hook to the body. Price takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Price feints and as Fighter raises his hands in defense, Price changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Price slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Fighter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Price wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Price has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Price slips under a jab from Fighter.
Fighter slaps away a takedown attempt from Price, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Price walks into a jab.
Street Fighter is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Price tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Price drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A big left from Fighter misses.
A punch lands to the side of Price 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Fighter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Price.

Price fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fighter, pushing him back against the cage.

Fighter lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Price tries to pull guard but Fighter forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Price wants to get back to striking at distance but Fighter won't allow it.

Price jumps guard but Fighter stands there with Price around his waist. Price gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Fighter swings wildly with an uppercut but Price uses good head movement to avoid it.
Fighter lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.

Price has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fighter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Price goes for a takedown attempt but Fighter pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Price shoots in for a takedown but Fighter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Fighter digs a good body shot into Price's ribs.
Price takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Fighter tests Price's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Price lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Price is trying to pull guard but Fighter turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Fighter lands a nice uppercut.

Fighter thuds his right hand into Price's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Price misses with a takedown attempt - Fighter sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Fighter wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Price pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fighter might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Street Fighter seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fighter lunges at Price with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Price's hand.

Benjamin Price is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Price's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fighter loads up on a big right hand but Price slips the punch.

Fighter throws a punch but it's blocked by Price.

Price manages to break the clinch.
Fighter throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Price stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Price lands a leg kick that knocks Fighter off balance momentarily.
Fighter throws a hook but Price avoids it easily.

Price shoots for a double leg takedown but Fighter sprawls well. He's pushed Price's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Price. Fighter does a little dance to reset his feet.

Price moves into the clinch.
Fighter swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fighter fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Price works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Price thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Price shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Fighter manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fighter can do anything to dispel that myth.

Price displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fighter throws out the jab.

Fighter uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Price has time to react.
Price closes the distance and clinches up with Fighter, looking for a takedown. Price pushes Fighter against the cage but Fighter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Price shoots in but Fighter avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Street Fighter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fighter lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Price looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Street Fighter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Fighter winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
