Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thiago Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Lie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lie is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by we right here. Mike Lie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lie tries to clinch up.
Lie tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lie misses with a double jab
and Alves counters with a shoot takedown. Lie fights it but they end up in guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Lie is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Alves is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Alves drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Alves jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Lie is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Alves counters with a left and a right that stings Lie.

Alves shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lie napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Alves wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lie, who protects the arm well.
Lie wants to get back to his feet.
Lie bucks up and tries to throw Alves off but instead Alves has got his back!
Lie covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Alves controls the position.
Alves has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Lie.
Lie holding both Alves 's hands and preventing any damage.

Lie is trying to get back to his feet but Alves has full control of the position and if anything, Lie has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Lie won't enjoy being in this position. Alves looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Lie is tapping - it's over boys! Alves picks up the submission victory!
