3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Why! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Why fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lee manages to avoid it. Why scores with a three punch combo!
Why throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range. Why gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Why blocks an uppercut.
Lee is looking to break free of the clinch but Why has double underhooks. Why is trying to force a seperation but Lee has the dominant position. Lee throws a head punch that misses. Why lands on the inside with an uppercut. Lee fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Why is trying to push Lee away but Lee has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Why wants to break the clinch but can't.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Why. Why tries to break free but Lee pushes him back against the cage. Lee can't break the clinch.
Lee throws a head punch that misses. Why blocking some punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Why looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Why manages to break the clinch.
Why closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Why ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away. Lee throws a hook but Why blocks it. Lee lands a lovely overhand right. Why lands a two punch combo.
Lee throws a lazy right hand but Why sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Lee misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Lee misses with a few strikes there.
Why throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Why takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Lee lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Why circles away quickly and effectively. Why throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lee. A punch combination from Why misses. Lee lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Why backs up against the cage.
It looks like John Why has been cut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Why moves out of range of the strikes. Why will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lee cracks Why with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Lee keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Why looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range. Why throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sloppy strikes from Why. Those never looked like landing. Why uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Lee has time to react. A decent looking cross lands there for Lee. A cross from Lee lands.
Why is rocked! Lee cracks Why's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Why slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Lee can do further damage! This one is done, son!
